Dear Editor,
I am a Labour supporter, but I will not vote for Mr. Philmore Benjamin in St. Mary’s North.
Benjamin was once a member of the Antigua Caribbean Liberation Movement (ACLM) a known communist group, actively opposing Sir Vere Bird and the Labour Party. Yet now, without going through the same democratic process as other Labour candidates.
The Prime Minister just impose him on us the people of St Marys North giving him a position he never earned. I recall even Sir Molwyn had to go through a primary when he returned to run having left the United States to serve this constituency. This is not only opportunistic it shows a blatant disrespect to Sir Molwyn Joseph, a loyal party servant who has long upheld Labour’s values.
His leadership and campaign style is old school. St. Mary’s North deserves a representative who respects and honors the party’s principles. Benjamin does not meet that standard.
We the people deserve leadership earned through trust, respect, and democratic process not opportunism and disregard for those who built the party. For these reasons, I cannot, and will not, vote for him.

How is this disrespect of Sir Molwyn. He resigned and indicated that he would not be standing in the next election. Make sense when you write.
Molwyn disrespects us all with his greed and his mismanagement.
