Dear Editor,
In recent times the Social Security Board has become the topic of contention.
Where as there are some legitimate arguments concerning with what the Social Security Board is doing with the people’s monies, we cannot overlook the fact that there are some employers who are making deductions from people’s salaries and still not paying these deductions into the scheme.
From my understanding, these individuals who are faced with such dilemma of having monies been deducted from their salaries and are not paid into the Social Security funds, can become victims of not getting any benefits from the scheme when they apply, even though it is no fault of the employee.

Therefore, if the above is true, we need to protect ourselves and make it our responsibility as employees, to ensure that the deductions taken out and are been paid to Social Security by the employer.
If there are any concerns of such nature, I am sure we can go into the Social Security Office and enquire whether or not these deductions are paid in.
In addition, to avoid been a victim of losing a job, I believe the field officer from Social Security can follow up the matter in confidence, and carry out the investigations with the relative employer and ensure that the said employer complies
