In a scathing on-air rebuke, veteran broadcaster Dayne Knight, host of the popular Knight@Knight show, has pulled back the curtain on what he calls a crisis of incompetence, hypocrisy, and media manipulation within the United Progressive Party (UPP) and its uneasy entanglement with Observer Radio.
Knight, known for his forthright style and piercing political analysis, has issued a bold call: both UPP Chairman Gisele Isaac and Political Leader Jamale Pringle should step aside for the party to stand any real chance of relevance or resurgence.
His message was clear: the UPP, under its current leadership, is out of step, out of ideas, and dangerously comfortable in opposition.
“The party is lacking a competent strategist,” Knight declared. “The methods are old, the tactics are antiquated, and the leadership appears more committed to maintaining control than to achieving victory.”
The show peeled back layers of dysfunction within the UPP’s public messaging and internal operations.
According to Knight, the voices the party puts forward—its so-called media surrogates—are “uninspiring,” devoid of urgency, and incapable of stirring either the base or the broader electorate.
“They speak, but say nothing but chupitness,” Knight remarked. “No passion, no fire, no message—uninspiring.”
Knight also didn’t mince words in his takedown of certain UPP loyalists.
Popular party mouthpiece “Rass I” came under fire for what Knight described as a duplicitous history of attacking the very party he now defends, particularly on rival platforms such as ZDK and Pointe FM.
“People have short memories,” Knight warned. “But I remember Rass I pulling down the UPP on every microphone he could find. Now he wants to rewrite the past.”

Even more damning were Knight’s revelations about the behind-the-scenes relationship between the UPP and Observer Radio itself.
In a rare instance of self-reflection, Knight accused his own station of news manipulation—twisting headlines and softening coverage to favor the UPP.
“I see Observer Radio deceptively spinning stories to accommodate the United Progressive Party,” he stated, fueling growing suspicion about the network’s editorial independence.
But the revelations didn’t end there.
In what many see as a bombshell, Knight accused the UPP of failing to pay for political advertising aired on Observer Radio leading up to the 2023 general elections.
According to him, not a single red cent was paid despite heavy airtime—an allegation he attributes to senior director and station manager—and owner, Dave Lester Payne.
If this claim is true, it would raise serious ethical and financial questions about both the party and the media house that carried their message.
Knight didn’t just call out the past—he offered a roadmap for change.
He argued that the party needs a complete leadership overhaul and a new, strategic alliance with the media, particularly Observer.
He suggested that the UPP can’t win elections with stale leadership and boring spokespeople, and that the party needs fire, vision, and an effective way to reach the people.
But the underlying message of Knight’s tirade was not just political—it was cultural.
He painted a portrait of a party stuck in a cycle of mediocrity, surrounded by sycophants who are “nonsensical and stupid,” addicted to the theater of opposition while unable or unwilling to do the hard work of governance.
“They want to remove the ALP,” Knight said, “but the truth is, the UPP is not good for Antigua and Barbuda. Not in its current form.”
The monologue has triggered shockwaves not just among party faithful, but across the media and political landscape. For some, it’s a long-overdue wake-up call.
For others, it marks the brutal end to a fragile alliance between a media house and a party once seen as its ideological partner.
What remains undeniable is this: the illusion of unity between the UPP and Observer Radio has shattered.
And with Knight turning his formidable platform against both, the future of Antigua and Barbuda’s political discourse may be entering a new—and far more honest—chapter.

If you ever listen to Market Lady show you will get a glimpse of the problem. The same 10 people call with the same old nonsense talking in circles. You have one caller that call the PM Dog Poo like that suppose to motivate voters. And the caller just laugh and commiserate about the ills of the island and offer not one constructive discourse. Then the Ras Idiot call in and just go off the chain and I know I just switch my dial. Does anyone even know who are the other candidates running for UPP besides Serpent, Richard, shugy and Pringle? This party lack vision. And don’t talk about Franz and how he love to twist things. I’m surprised Franz is not a pretzel.
Mr Knight ain’t never tell a lie, he is spot on as it relates to his evaluation and critique of the main opposition party.

Knight didn’t attack the UPP alone that night.
He made it clear that Labour Party was more of a drag on the people than the UPP.
He condemned the leadership of the UPP.
Has buried the leadership of the ALP.

I’m begging the UPP please: I am one of your die hard supporters. I have drank the blue kool-aid. But I need Gisele and Pringle to resign if the party is to win the next elections. I’m begging both of them to please resign. Allow new and fresh leadership with new strategic and modern ideas to take over the party.

Certain people want to keep UPP the way it is, in case they get a fluke win they would be able to control Jamal. I personally like the guy but he is not leadership material, this is so unfair to the supporters of the party
Not seeing any revelation. Anyone claiming these are revelations are liars. Fact is UPP is not a real political party. Its more Group for ABLP haters. Its utterances are all about its dislike for ABLP rather than its plans for A&B.

Ok so ANR picked out what knight said of the UPP political situation and leave out the ALP political fiasco over Antigua and it’s economy by Gaston brown? And the henchmen of ALP blogging under different names as if they keyboard happy, but we the listeners of knight show can pick sense from nonsense, we all feel the UPP is on the wrong track as far as leadership that is incapable of going after a rogue prime minister ostensibly embezzlement scheme for self enrichment, nyamco and Barbuda lands sale is secretive and CIP passport money, they are more pronounced by knight and other callers, but Gaston drives fear in the public by threatening to sue anyone who voices opinion against him. And Pringle don’t have the institutional capacity to go after Gaston, and Giselle though intelligent respond in a soap opera argumentive manner that lack inspiration, Lovell too would not connect in the people vernacular to connect to the peoples emotions, he speaks in the queens english tongue fluently leaving the grass root supporters oblivious to what he is saying, so he speaks to some elites that understands .
This is the first time a party that I support leaves me disillusioned and disenchanted. Joan underwood and the late keva margetson comes to mind as fresh air to the stimulate the UPP party . This is not Pringles fault he doesn’t cut it, he was looked upon with sympathy for been the lone seat warmer for the UPP after the 2014 election and rewarded with entitlement, but it is done at the time the upp and Antigua in general was under siege by Gaston and ALP, and which require UPP best soldier to fight the battle, many felt Richard Lewis would have possess the institutional capacity to take on Gaston, but the UPP manipulate the convention process with old out of touch elderly persons brought to vote for party blue instructions that they are given by the executive branch. If they had allow the process to be the will of the branch without pressuring a particular outcome the UPP would be better off today.
@My opinion it is too late for that. Having Harold run in Pringle’s seat should have been done some time ago. When it comes to serious political strategy the UPP is woefully lacking. I guess Harold also did not want to leave City East where his navel string is buried. In politics you have to be strategic and pragmatic.

When Jacqui interview Opposition Leader Pringle is like she talking to someone in grade 5. One bag ah easy and leading questions, and Pringle can barely answer them sensible. Knight has an axe to grind. I do not know what Giselle has for him but his hatred for her seems to overpower even his love for some of his UPP friends! This is not the first time knight is doing this. You will recall his angst against the PIT during UPPs time in office and just like now all the labourites joined him and brought down the UPP.; he then turned his ire towards the ABLP. Point is: Knight must always have an enemy. The thing with Knight is: you must do as he says else he is your enemy. No doubt that is why he left the UPP..
What those UPPites that are supporting and encouraging Knight don’t realize is that he is hurting UPP far more than he is hurting Gaston and ABLP and furthermore he does not care.
So of what use is Knight now that he continues to harbour such hatred for Giselle and UPP by extension?
If Gaston is returned to power, he should send him a thank you note and perhaps some of the purported “filthy lucre” that he likes to speak about so much.
We live in a democratic society and everybody is entitled to their opinions. I believe Knight’s position is that the UPP cannot win the next general elections under Gisele and the present UPP leadership. That is his view and he is entitled to it. There are many others who hold a different opinion and believe that the UPP is in good hands and is stronger than ever and will win the next general election. Time alone will tell which opinion is right.
Antiguans know that the Nighty man is right this time I agree with him the leadership is weak and will get weaker every day and I find that Jackie who has such a brilliant mind and a veteran politician enables this sinking ship and allows it to sell destruct she can make the kind of objective recommendations to bring this party to be a fighting force for the labor party and our PM knows that they are nitwitts and are unable to win any elections with the present leadership the lady that controls Pringle and believes she owns the franchise of the upp and can curse out any one he chooses to curse and does not realize that she is antiquated and washed up with her thinking so Mr knight is spot on and on the mark with his introspection and objectivity of the present dynamics taking place and until Mr Richard Lewis and Mr Bowen assumes the leadership it will continue to get worse with a series of possible Alfernero lawsuits pending the PM can destroy the upp completely if he chooses to for their alledge conspiracy actions made on the media with all the thieving names that was given to him which has been proven to be untrue.
