Dear Editor,
I wrote a letter earlier decrying the fact that I had not had consistent water for about a week. To add insult to injury, APUA was kind enough to also take off the electricity.
What is really going on in this country?
We have been fortunate enough to not have been hit by a serious storm that could damage or destroy our reverse osmosis plants and our electricity system but on a bright, sunny, good day, we are still forced to live as if our country’s infrastructure has been decimated by a natural disaster.
As I asked before, what is the REAL problem?
It cannot be that the government has invested so much in fixing the water problem including making a change with management to only yield these results.
We have not had water in a week, but now we cannot run our fan or air conditioning unit to keep cool?
This place is now only for the rich who can provide themselves with their own constant water supply and generator to keep the pump working and the lights on.
It’s as if our government is working its way out of being useful since it cannot provide us with basic needs.
I am officially hating living in Antigua at this point.
Very Frustrated Antiguan

No water for over 10 days in my location. To make it worse,my tank decided to leak. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope it rains. APUA needs to provide us with more information on water schedule.
You should probably migrate.. A true antiguan would never use the word hate when referring to his /her country.
This entity born sick, they previously and actual bosses in deed are a bunch of yes,yes men and woman.
Colonialism mentally still exist, the different is:
Now,the buffoons have different skin colors.
Cry me a river Frustrated Antiguan. Maybe your tears will help with the water supply! If you are ‘officially hating living in Antigua at this point’ then you should LEAVE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! It takes a real loser to write these sob stories to ANR or any media. Yes things can be challenging but so is life! You improvise, adapt and overcome as Antiguan’s have done for a long time!
Welcome to Antigua where everything is going wrong, Gaston is swollen with fake pride, APUA is a classical entity and we have to take all the crap and try to survive.
They not wrong. How are we surrounded by water and have several desalination plants but we never have water, I get water today for the first in two weeks and the water black like oil. Water bills over $150 but I get water three days a month for two hours per day? This is outrageous. Government buildings don’t have water, fire hydrants dry and domestic homes are getting overcharged for the air in the pipes. Hate is a strong word but I definitely agree. Antigua used to be nice, it’s not anymore.
You don’t want people to talk the Truth, you want people to keep sucking sour lemon. People like you why this place is so damn frustrating. Some of you have Stockholm syndrome. It’s time every one stand up for what right fr the future of this nation. Au nor want hear the truth. We need water in our damn pipes every day.
no, they don’t want thier water trucks on park, it’s big business. if you know you know😒
Writer I must point out to you that the issues you have raised are not unique to A&B. Fact is it even happens in developed countries eg USA. Electricity disruptions can happen due to issues beyond APUA’s control. One usual reason these days is some driver running into a apua lamp-post. There are also scheduled outages for apua to do maintenance. As for water which is a bigger issue, you will always have to have a backup. This is why DCA requires it for residential constructions. Even when we come to a point where production meets demand, there is still the issue of pipes breaking. Note this can also happen outside of apua’s control (eg a backhoe constructing a wall and cuts apua’s pipe).
Let me alert you to a headline in the Saint Lucia “Saint Lucia declares water emergency amid critical shortage”, May 24th. Here is another article from the US headlined “America is in a water crisis, but help is on the way” by American Society of Civil Engineers dated Sept 2024
Gaston has probably just made a call to a TINMAN and berated him, now he’s coming up with all the possibilities why electricity is suppressed so often in Antigua. It seems like everyday, multiple vehicles have collided with multiple utility poles and we should be satisfied with the water situation also because St. Lucia is having issues too. This reads like an essay from a grade 3 student. These people will belittle themselves to gain acceptance.
“kp” and “cry me a river” comments are the definition of stupid and pure ignorance. So limited in mindset, it’s almost pitiful.
@1 Antigu…Don’t forget/ ignore the part I posted about America is in a water crisis, but help is on the way” by American Society of Civil Engineers dated Sept 2024
The same applies to you #1 Antigua hater! YOU can leave too you sorry snot-nosed cry baby! Anyone with a screen name like yours is a bonafide POS who clearly has issues in general not just with my island! If you hate Antigua so much then LEAVE, give up your residency or citizenship and be gone! Your opinion on ANYTHING to do with Antigua is meaningless! Shoo pest!
What is pitiful are people like you, dumb as a box of rocks and mad at the world. You think APUA will be galvanised into action once they read the comments here? Keep dreaming! Real change doesn’t happen crying over your phone or keyboard as you write a few lines on this website. Cry harder hater!
Yall are so schupid America have water crisis but they don’t go without water for weeks and days upon days like us here I remember when my nieces n nephews came to visit and at the time
They came to visit my cistern wasn’t completely finish so I had government water which was off for four days straight but I have barrels that I keep water in and always refreshing them so they won’t sit my 4 year old niece turned to me and said why she have to brush her mouth and bathe out of water from a barrel she’s not used to that after explaining to them about our water issue and with them being able to take baths showers and brush n wash their hands every time they do something or eat something it made them uncomfortable I was uncomfortable myself because I’m used to taking showers three times a day just to stay cool they never came back to Antigua because of them
Not being able to take care of their hygiene. So Antigua citizens need to start think and find ways to save water for rainy days if they get barrels that’s a way to keep water or get a tank or cistern when water turn off u got your back up
