English Harbour Mourns the Loss of Local Legend Paget ‘Jacko’ Weste
English Harbour is in mourning following the death of Paget ‘Jacko’ Weste, a well-known and much-loved figure in the community. His lifeless body was discovered earlier today, leaving residents and visitors alike in shock.
Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, the Parliamentary Representative for St. Paul, paid tribute to Weste in a heartfelt statement, describing him as “the life of English Harbour” and “a thread woven into the vibrant fabric of our daily lives.”
“Jacko was more than just a familiar face; he was a character in the very best sense of the word,” Greene said. “He will long be remembered for his unforgettable personality, his faithful donkey, and the unique attraction that came with it; a sight that brought a smile to all who witnessed it.”
Greene emphasised Weste’s authenticity and generosity of spirit. “What made Jacko so special was his beautiful authenticity. He was real. He did not hide his feelings about anything, yet he bore no malice. His honesty was refreshing, his spirit genuine,” Greene said.
The MP recounted personal memories of Weste, including regular visits to his office in Liberta. “His last visit was this past Saturday… True to form, he promised to visit again upon my return; a promise that now leaves a poignant ache and a visit we will sadly never share,” Greene added.
Weste’s presence in English Harbour, marked by his charm, humour, and distinctive character, has left a lasting impact on the community. Greene concluded his tribute by expressing both sorrow and gratitude. “Thank you, Jacko, for the laughter, the honesty and the friendship. English Harbour will not be the same without you. Rest in Peace, Jacko. You will never be forgotten.”

A character like no other but you can never imagine and envision a much kinder and nicer person. His donkey was indeed his closest friend and confidante and he doesn’t go anywhere without it. Jacko would give you his only mango or sugar apple and he never expect anything in return. From a distance he would shout out your name whenever he sees you as that was his modus operandi for hailing up his friends.
