(Cabinet Notes)
Sixty-six vacant lots of Crown Land at Cades Bay are being prepared for distribution to nationals of Antigua and Barbuda, with a preference going to nationals who live in the diaspora.
The object is to ensure that those who are assigned the parcels of land begin building homes within a fixed time period or lose the parcel to someone else with the resources to build.

Do they know how much these lands at Cades Bay cost? They have just narrowed the pool to only a select few.
Price please.
@Kristi: Are you a National.I did see a comment made by you yesterday. That you were not from Antigua.Do you live in the Diaspora? If you are not a National. You are disqualified from this endeavor.Nationals living in the Diaspora? We as a group of Nationals are living all around the world. That is our Diaspora.I am aware that many of you think New York is our Diaspora. NUTTEN TALL GO SO.
Takes a special kind of hatred to go in on someone like this. I get that you want to expound on the fact that this is land for Antiguans in the diaspora but this whole I saw your message yesterday and you are not Antiguan thing is annoying me. With CIP damn near everyone who wants to be Antiguan can be and there are a bunch of naturalized citizens who have Antiguan family and hence get citizenship. The question was ‘price please’, which is a pertinent question if you had no answer you should’ve just shut up instead of being slick based on something this person commented before. Mind you I didn’t see that comment but I just felt like this was a bit xenophobic. At the end of the day if she’s not Antiguan she wouldn’t get the land so you didn’t need to disparage the woman.
This is a good idea and something I’ve heard people talk about for years. It repatriates wealth from offshore and that inflow can be used to build public infrastructure and pad rainy day funds for hurricane and pandemic relief efforts. The issue that I foresee is that some of us who were born in Antigua, but have now lived abroad for years, want to plant island roots. However, we will not exhaust our savings to do so. It’s counter-productive. Some people will want to build houses but some of us are perfectly happy purchasing manufactured homes or condos. Please make that an option too. Perhaps the developer can secure financial commitments in advance of building the condo and then build from there. I personally don’t want to be bothered with figuring out how to run water, power and sewer lines when building from scratch.
This is bullshit! Why is this only available for “diaspora’ …i know young professionals here who work extremely hard and pay taxes to this LAND! Why can’t they have this access as well??!!!
I wish I could shake your hands
Well said Narissa !!!!!!!

Native Antiguans and Barbudans should have the right to choose where they wants to buy crown lands. Our forefathers taxes have bought back all these crown lands from the massa. I don’t want when I goes to CHAPA I am being told no lands available here and there and then someone outside come with green dollars flashing and get the lands. I am a native born and I want hillside crown lands to buy. I saved years for this, and then told by CHAPA none is available.
AMAZING! CHAPA never have, is either you buy private or hope an affordable auction comes up. And is not who you know or who you get put on too. Is who willing to help you.
This is a good initiative for ploughing back the money from the diaspora community
So strange and persons who are contributing daily to nation building cannot buy a piece.I have been working in the public sector for almost 25 years and is in Management position. For years I have been trying to purchase a piece of land.I completed applications at Agriculture when Garfield Christopher was working there and also at CHAPPA several times.I even went for an interview with Mrs.Gouta and was told that they were cutting lands in Jennings and will call me.This is as recent as 3 years ago.I am one Antiguan and Barbudan who would never ever go to any politician to spend my money. It seem as though that is the easiest way to acquire lands.I have seen persons who can barely afford deposits get 2 and more pieces for family members, but I will stand by my conviction. God will provide.
I am Antiguan looking for a cheap lot of land.
0.30 acres. What’s the cost of this please?
