I would like to take this moment to laud the efforts of Minister of Health Sir Molwyn Joseph for his groundbreaking decision to equip the Villa Polyclinic with a doctor on weekdays. This initiative is a testament to the government’s commitment to improving healthcare accessibility and quality for the people of Antigua and Barbuda, ensuring that residents have access to essential medical services during the week.
The presence of a physician at the Villa Polyclinic is a significant development that addresses the pressing healthcare needs of the community. By providing medical care on weekdays, this initiative opens the door for many individuals to seek timely treatment, alleviating some of the burdens faced by families who may struggle to access healthcare during traditional office hours.
I sincerely hope that this initiative will pave the way for other larger clinics across the island to follow suit, potentially extending their services to a 24-hour basis. Offering round-the-clock healthcare will not only enhance access but also help to take the strain off the country’s lone medical center, which has often been overwhelmed with patients in need of urgent care.
The benefits of a 24-hour physician-manned polyclinic are numerous. First and foremost, it ensures that residents have access to immediate medical attention whenever they need it, significantly improving patient outcomes. Emergency situations can arise at any time, and having healthcare professionals available around the clock means that critical conditions can be addressed promptly, reducing the risk of complications.
Additionally, a 24-hour polyclinic would promote a proactive approach to healthcare. With the availability of physicians at all hours, individuals would feel more encouraged to seek medical advice and preventative care, ultimately leading to a healthier community. The constant presence of medical staff could also foster a more robust public health strategy, allowing for better monitoring and management of community health issues.
The recently graduated Cuban-trained doctors are ideally suited to rotate on a 24-hour basis in these clinics. Their training emphasizes community-based healthcare, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to address a wide range of health issues effectively. These physicians are prepared to make a significant impact, bringing their expertise and dedication to the forefront of patient care in our communities.
The initiative at the Villa Polyclinic is a promising step forward, and I look forward to seeing more clinics adopt similar practices, paving the way for a more resilient and accessible healthcare system for all. Together, let us support these efforts to ensure that quality medical care is available to every citizen, regardless of the hour.

EUDELLE LOOKIN GOFUNDME MILEAGE
Ah, but will the Health Minister Molwyn Joseph address the Covid-19 elephant 🐘 in the room and help the vaccine injured and the bereaved relatives of those who passed away from the trial AstraZeneca mRNA injections (as well as Pfizer and Moderna).
A real Health Minister would concern himself with ALL medical issues.
THEY NEED HELP NOW!!!
During the Covid-19 pandemic Joseph was full of chat in haranguing Antiguans into taking these trial vaccines … and nd now there’s total SILENCE!
WHY JOSEPH WHY???
This sounds like dick riding. A difference from showing and acknowledging someone to plane kiss assing.
Hopefully there is more than one doctor there cause we know that doctors need to eat. They aren’t robots.
The schedule says 8 – 4.
Either someone is doownright lying or the doctor is being abused.
Who wants a tired pilot flying them to barbuda today?
I must have missed something. As far as I’m aware, there has been a doctor working at the polyclinic all this time.
Hey,this is how you move up here. Do some serious booty kissing of the ALP politicians.
While we’re at it. The Glanville Polyclinic has ONE doctor serving Willikies,Glanville Pares and Seatons. The same doctor is unavailable on some weekdays because they have to go to New Field’s clinic. There is one doctor for the All Saints clinic at Glanville since the closure of the clinic in All Saints.
Come on Eudel. Survey the whole Healthcare system and you will see that Molwyn Joseph is the most incompetent, inept Heath minister ever.
And yes. We must never let them forget what they have done to Antiguans and Barbudans with the killer shots. People continue to drop dead all over the place in record numbers, masked and hidden by this same Molwyn Joseph.
This article has left me more confused! As far as I am aware, the clinics have all had doctors on weekdays…All Saints, Liberta, St John’s Health Cntre…arl ah dem! So what is the gentle doctor saying? The article says doctor on weekdays yet it is describing the benefits of a 24- hour rotation.
