Kiz Johnson is a very level headed and astute individual. She is articulate, expressive and very coherent. She is always very keen on ensuring whatever she does is done in an orderly, businesslike and precise manner. Because she was appointed to the Senate as an Independent Senator, her initial decision to participate in an ABLP Primary would have contradicted and be at variance with her Independent Senate role. Her resignation from the Senate is the right thing to do and it paves the way for her primary run.
This is what Anthony Smith should have done.
@ Audrey Phillip she did not resign because she was appointed by the Governor General as an Independent Senator. She had to resign because she was nominated to contest the St. Phillips South Constituency seat in the House of Representatives and that nomination is at variance with the Constitution at section 31 (1). The situation of Anthony Smith is much different. When Parliament is dissolved to facilitate the next general elections, Anthony Smith is free to do whatever he wants.
