The system is meant to protect the most vulnerable, yet sometimes it fails—especially when decisions are influenced more by status, profession, or appearances than by a thorough assessment of the child’s best interest.
It’s time for Antigua and Barbuda to strengthen child protection policies, ensure that all custody decisions are rooted in comprehensive investigations, and prioritize the voice and safety of the child above all else.
Too often children are sent back into the arms of their abusers—sometimes by court orders that fail to consider the full scope of trauma these children face. Even more alarming is when abusers, shielded by their profession or public image, succeed in gaining custody.
What ever organization this is the Topic is very good lots of children needs a voice and help.Child Abuse comes in all forms,I do not know how advanced this organization is ,but it will be nice if your first knock on the door visit would be that 15yearold girl that was missing and now return police seems they’re unable to tell the public where she was while reported missing, police sometimes like to leave matters as private,/ family but some of those cases are the cases that the children needs help the most but are unable to say anything “because the police came and leave “.So if by any chance this organization can please check on that little girl.
Heartbreaking that it took a tragedy like this to bring such an important issue to the forefront.
We can’t let Chantel’s death be in vain. RIP Sweet girl
Sending Love to Chantel’s family always!!
The Kiwanis Club of St John’s Antigua, thank you for highlighting our upcoming walk. We wish to clarify that this is our Annual Child Abuse Prevention Walk, which we host each year to raise awareness and promote child protection.
While we deeply mourn the loss
of all our children, the walk is not in response to any specify incident.
