Jolly Harbour Community Holds Hope as Search Continues for Missing Sailor Daniel Jules

The yachting and boating community in Jolly Harbour has issued a message expressing cautious optimism as the search continues for Daniel Jules, who went missing after reportedly falling overboard from the yacht SV Voilactus late Tuesday night while sailing to Dominica for Creole Fest.

Jo Lucas, General Manager of Jolly Harbour Marina & Boatyard, said the coastguard was alerted immediately and took over the search once on the scene. “It is with cautious optimism that we continue to wait for news on our beloved Daniel,” she said.

“We are all struggling to comprehend the situation. The coastguard were immediately alerted and once on the scene took over the search.”

Lucas noted that the operation was affected by rough seas but stressed that the community has not given up hope. “Unfortunately, much to the devastation of us all, the search was suspended yesterday afternoon due to the extreme sea conditions,” she said.

“We are not about to give up hope as it has only been 36 hours. Daniel is a very strong and determined man — we know he would not be giving up hope.”

The Jolly Harbour boating community is continuing to send “love, prayers, and positive energy” as they await further updates from authorities.
