Tourism Minister Charles Fernandez has confirmed that the government is in discussions with potential investors for the redevelopment of Jolly Beach Hotel, with at least one investor set to visit Antigua in the coming weeks to explore opportunities.
Speaking on Pointe FM, Fernandez said that while no agreements have been finalized, there has been significant interest in reviving the beachfront property, which was once a key player in Antigua’s all-inclusive resort market.
“We should have someone coming to the island as early as week after next week to look at investing in Jolly Beach Hotel,” Fernandez stated.
Jolly Beach Hotel, which was among the largest hotels in Antigua, has faced financial difficulties and closure, leaving a gap in the island’s tourism infrastructure.
The government has been working to secure investment to restore operations, recognizing the strategic importance of the property.
Fernandez emphasized that reviving Jolly Beach Hotel is crucial for expanding Antigua’s room stock and meeting the rising demand for accommodations, as the country continues to experience record-breaking tourism arrivals.
Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism industry is seeing strong growth, with increased stay-over and cruise arrivals.

The government has prioritized hotel expansion and investment opportunities, working to bring new properties online while revitalizing existing ones.
Fernandez noted that while discussions are still in the preliminary stages, the interest from investors is encouraging, and the government remains committed to seeing the hotel return to full operation.

Investors are great, but I hope the hotel remains affordable for locals and not just tourists.
I hope this revival actually benefits local workers too.
This can really boost tourism.
Again?? Wasn’t this supposed to have been redeveloped and reopened?
Jollyu Beach looks like a Dovecote. It is the most despicable hotel building on Antigua. It should never have been build. And the rooms are build like we are living in Yellow Stone Park or Bedrock where Fred Flinstone live. The bathrooms are so small. The only good thing of Jolly Beach Hotel is, that it is situated on one of Antigua’s best beaches. But for the rate that guests are paying to be at such a beautiful beach its not economicaly good use of our asset. Fiove Star Hotels like Sandals would have killed for a location such as this. Many investors have come in the past and all have come to the same conclusion. The building needs to be broken down completely. Untill the government want to do agree with that any investor would be wasting their money. They should only pay for the value of the land. Not the building. And it would take about two to Three years to build something new down there. Or they should do like Royaltin Chic did, Build a new wing and then break down the rest while operating the new wing.
They need sum investment at carlisle bay, di place a bruk dung.
