Johnson Defines Herself as ‘Woman of the Village’ as Constituents Respond to Primary Win

Newly appointed Senator Kiz Johnson highlighted her deep roots in St. Philip’s South as she described her political identity following her Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party primary victory, telling listeners she sees herself as firmly grounded in the communities she hopes to represent.

Appearing on the Browne and Browne Show, Johnson was asked to introduce herself to the public and acknowledge the villages that make up the constituency.

She responded by framing her political outlook around place, culture, and upbringing. “I am a woman of the village… a woman of country… a woman of East,” she said.

  1. Congratulations Kiz. Time to bring back dignity to St. Phillips South. You have no blood on your hands

  2. Kiz always carried herself well in the Senate as an Independent. If she brings that same standard, the Upper House will benefit.

  3. Dear Kiz. I watched you grow in this community. You always showed promise for amounting to something.
When you went into the Senate, I was concerned. I was afraid you would not be what you can be, and that is a free thinking person who cares about people. If the UPP was in power that could have happened (Malaka Parker is the exception.)
But I worried about you in a Gaston Browne senate. Now it looks like my fears are real. You are no longer independent. You are now full blown ‘layba’. You belong to him. You cannot advocate on anything unless he approves. What he tells you to do you will have to do. Where he sends you, you will have to go. Your public thoughts are no longer your own. You are now a captive of the brown dog.
That is so sad. You had so much promise.

You now have a choice. Either become full layba, that is saying the world is flat when you know it is round, or you reject it (not too late), and save your soul.

If you do the former, your political career will be very short.
