Jewelle Gittens, founder of Made by Jewelle, won the $3500 top prize in the “Pitch Your Business” competition on International Women’s Day 2024.
The event, organized by the Directorate of Gender Affairs (DoGA) with Caribbean Union Bank and the British High Commission, aimed to empower female entrepreneurs.
Out of 33 applicants, six finalists were selected to compete at the John E St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre. Jewelle’s non-profit cake business, focused on community support, impressed the judges.
Christal Clashing, founder of Splashing with Clashing, placed second and received $2000, while Lily Rose Schofield, creator of the Beehive Learning Centre, came in third, earning $1000.
The cash prizes, provided by Caribbean Union Bank and the British High Commission, will support these women’s entrepreneurial journeys.
