Jermaine Thomas, 20, of Greenbay Hill, appeared in court this week, facing the fallout from a crime spree that targeted multiple St. John’s businesses. On Wednesday, he received a 10-month prison sentence for breaking into E-Bike Tours on August 29.

The next day, Thomas admitted guilt to several other break-ins, including damaging Ceco Pharmacy and stealing $10, smashing a window at Gold Beauty Plus, and taking a $3,000 cash register from Party Paradise. He also caused damage to Nellie’s and Archie’s Catering but denied attempting further break-ins at those locations.

Thomas will return to court on October 9 to face unresolved charges.

  1. Nationality please Mr. Byam wants to know so that he can figure out which Caribbean country he should be deported to.

  2. Stop your prejudice and discrimination nonsense! He’s Antiguan by the way. And your PM already admitted that 95% of crimes done in Antigua are committed by Antiguans. The unnecessary hate is real… One non national do a crime and people like you take it and generalise. What a shame.

What world do you live in? I see the face and expression of A THUG
Nothing innocent in his facial expression. The internet is replete with this thuggish look

  4. A lot of these youngster are coming from broken homes. No father involvement in their lives and no structure, many have been abused in their earlier years and we are seeing the result of that. This is survival.

  5. Yes that is an easy answer. More imprisonment but then what after being imprisoned? The conditions at the prison are horrible. We are sending these young men to go and mix with the thugs and gang members to become more hardened criminals. When you are surrounded by these kinds of people what do you think is going to be the likely outcome?

  6. I agree Mavis. Sending these guys to Jail makes no sense. Their needs to be a juvenile intervention for these youngsters. Sending them to prison is the easy part.

  7. @hmmmm, when only 5-10% of the crimes committed are solved, 90% remains unsolved. Therefore, the 95% the PM says that are done by locals is representative only of the 10% that are solved — not the
    totality of crimes committed.

I’ll reiterate: there are more UNSOLVED than SOLVED crimes in Antigua!
