Dear Leadership of the United Progressive Party,

I am writing to formally withdraw from the UPP Primary for St. John’s Rural South. This decision comes after much reflection and disappointment in the process and the current state of the party’s leadership.

A party that takes over ten months to process membership applications is not ready for prime time. In an era of advanced technology and instant communication, the UPP remains mired in poor communication, petty jealousy, power struggles for no power, disorganization, and a lack of strategic vision.

These shortcomings not only hinder candidates but also undermine the party’s ability to connect with the electorate effectively.

At this critical moment, the UPP needs leadership that is nimble, visionary, and deeply attuned to the needs of the people.

The party must embrace bold changes to bridge generational and socioeconomic divides and foster trust within its ranks and across Antigua and Barbuda.

Without this transformation, it risks losing its relevance and the confidence of the people.

While I am stepping back from this process, I remain hopeful that the UPP can rise to meet the challenges of this era and become a true force for progress.”

Sincerely,

Jermaine N. Edwards

Community Advocate for St. John’s Rural South

  5. -PETTY JEALOUSY

you hit the nail on the head. now add XENOPHOBIA to the list!

  6. Jermaine Edwards stepping back too sighting leadership issues. As the mighty Sparrow says 60 million Frenchman can’t be wrong. Your stubbornness will cause the UPP a good cut ass in the next election. DUMB F****RS

  7. the MASS EXODUS continues. MORE RESIGNATIONS, WITHDRAWALS, QUIET QUITTINGS to come. Stay tuned! Excellent leadership Pringle and Giselle, excellent leadership.

UPP IS SECURE now more than before.

  8. It’s sad the people leading the UPP can’t see what it’s happening to their party and the best thing they can say is *ME NAH MOVE*

The electorate is watching, If you can’t keep your party together how are you going to run a country?

THE UPP IS NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME!

  9. Lady Jermaine,
I don’t know you, but I’ve been following your posts since you initiated your desire to serve. I have developed a great deal of respect for you, albeit being supporter of MP Darryl Matthew and the ABLP.

You would present a healthier fight against the current MP with your apparent intellect and great content, as being displayed in your writings.

Your summation of the state of affairs of the UPP is pretty telling as an insider. It’s lamentable that the leadership are unable to see that they’re spiraling downwards to their own demise.

It will require people like you to hijack the party (or what’s left of it) to save the day.

Every democracy needs a healthy and unified opposition to challenge its current administration. That’s the way development and changes take place post haste.
    I wish you well.

    Can’t make this 💩 up.
To all who have a problem with my opinions this is what y’all need to study. Party falling apart. Not my level of education (University graduate with a business) or if I am an Antiguan(born and raised).
Get ready for morw crying in the comments🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭

  11. I really don’t know why Brix and other don’t openly put their hat in the ring and run for elected office. They believe so much in party, but want to stay in the background

  12. If Pringle love our country and want the ablp out he need to take a back step and make someone with ideas and goals to lead Pringle nothing wrong with a step back its shows you care for your country and your party .

  13. I personally like Gladys Potter as an individual, but she has come up short against Daryl Matthew I think twice, the people in the constituency should be given a chance to decide in a primary. Daryl is no easy push over as a matter of fact I think he is the britest star in the ABLP lineup. When is UPP going to take the heads out of their behind. When they call a political meeting and can’t muster a decent crowd, by then it would be too late

  14. Again, I am witnessing with somewhat dismay the ABLP acolytes slobbering and salivating at what’s perceived to be going on within the UPP.

One of the saddest thing about our current politics in Antigua (however, not so in Barbuda – the Barbudan’s are politically astute), is that whilst the country continues to be BANJAXED with major infrastructural delays; and Antiguans continually struggling to keep a roof over their heads and feed their children, the commentators main focus is on what’s going on with the opposition party.

This makes REAL political discourse here a farce.

Look at all these serious issues where the ABLP always gets a free pass:

Transparency; Alpha Nero; opposition inducements to join the ABLP; Airlines fiasco; the Freedom of Information Act request; where are the Africans that illegally embarked here; the unaccountable $1 million dollars hurricane Irma relief fund for Barbuda; the $100 million dollars that is STILL owed in back pay and overtime payments; where was the lucidity with CIP, NAMCO, and YIDA? Business concessions for overseas investors, but not the same for born and bred Antiguans.

BUT NEVER MIND, LET’S KEEP THE FOCUS ON THE UPP INSTEAD.

Has Antigua become the island of the brainwashed from the likes of the – not fit for purpose – Gaston Browne and the devious ABLP members?

I’m baffled, bedazzled and bemused …

  15. LMAO🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Had this been ABLP this long winded paragraph would not have been written. The walls are crumbling down and they know what to say. Before they admit them party fulling apart when all else falis with an essay on everything else except for the topic at hand. Clock that tea🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭

  16. @ Less We Forget and @ not mood, thanks for the commendation? Much appreciated 👍🏾

However, my goal is NOT to enter into politics (I enjoy the cut and thrust of the business arena).

My main aim is to get fellow Antiguans to recognise that we need a leader with integrity and transparency to lead this country into prosperity our children, and our children’s children.

Politicking is simple here, if the right people are in charge …

  17. It’s amazing that we are in the 21st century and some Antiguans remains in the 19th Century. During the Birds nasty era Antiguans witnessed the Bird administration selling our lands to Arabs in hecters who has turned around selling our lands in plots.
The Birds administration committed Antigua to CSME and we got in return soaring crime rate.

This current administration gassed Antiguans for exercising their democratic rights whilst protesting, this current administration demolished an Argiculture nursery to make way for private housing development. Under this current administration it failed the nation during COVID.

Water shortage, bad roads inadequate and outdated health care facilities and resources are prevalent. Youth crime and gang warfare has become the accepted norm under this administrative who has failed to put system in place to help young disaffected young people.

Christmas is 22 days away and Antiguans who are looking forward to collecting their Christmas hampers are beating their drums by attacking UPP, but failing to recognise the failures of ALP who have kept them as a people who constantly needs handouts.

Undoubtedly, UPP has issues, but none compared to ALP. The nominee’s withdrawal signals weaknesses in her ability to participate in a process that requires stamina and did the right thing by resigning and to make way for a candidate with integrity, loyalty and tenacity to contribute within the party and to secure a blue seat.

  18. @Visionary

You mean the MASSIVE RALLY at Seaview Farm Playing feel was not enough to convince the electorate to have confidence in UPP’s keaderSHIT???? wow!!! Warta calamity 😏

  19. She has balls. Richard Lewis has none!!! She jumped before she was pushed. SPINELESS, SELFISH, ARROGANT Richie Lew is waiting ro be trampled under the MAN COW hoof. The CHAOS DEMON 😈 pricking him with her pitchfork and he taking the abuse

  20. @ Antigua4ever, you and I have highlighted what has been plaguing the country for decades, yet the ABLP, the cause of all this inaction and economic mayhem gets away with not putting things right for Antiguans.

    My conclusion is this:

Have we as a people now come to accept this type of subservience and third class existent way of living and survival?

If things continue as they are in this self-enriched political climate, things will only get worse for the rest of us.
