Jamaican Patriots Bring Holiday Cheer to Clarevue Psychiatric Hospital in Antigua
Jamaican Patriots living in Antigua have spearheaded a heartwarming initiative to spread holiday cheer at the Clarevue Hospital this Sunday.
The initiative is now in its third year.
Last year, the group made a significant impact by distributing toiletries, but after engaging with the community, they discovered a preference for food.
Responding to the voice of the people, the Jamaican Patriots, led by group founder and President Paterna Scarlett, have stepped up their efforts to provide cooked meals for the 150 patients and staff at Clarevue.
“The joy and gratitude here are palpable. I didn’t expect it, and seeing the patients’ faces light up during lunch just makes my day,” shared Scarlet.
This year’s outreach goes beyond meals. The group has included gift packages filled with dry food and toiletries for 50 families in need, extending the festive spirit to those beyond the hospital walls.
Reflecting on the impact of their efforts, Scarlet expressed, “The response from grateful recipients over the years warms our hearts and encourages us to do more.”
The initiative, which started as a modest outreach effort, has grown in scale each year.

If persons were always this kind and considerate, respectful of opinions, thoughtful and helpful to each other all year long in all communities, workplaces etc. instead of constantly attacking each other, finding fault, demeaning, obstructing, manipulating, lying, defaming etc. perhaps there would be an improvement in everyone’s mental health. May the love that is found at Christmas extend throughout the year. Merry Christmas!
