Sanjaye Kemar Morgan, a Jamaican national who escaped from lawful detention at the Immigration Detention Centre, recently appeared before Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel in District B Court, All Saints.

He pleaded guilty and has been remanded to prison pending his next court appearance on Wednesday. It is expected that Morgan will face deportation for breaching the country’s immigration laws.

In a related case, Morgan’s mother, Susan Stephenson, who had been residing in the country illegally since 2020, was ordered for immediate deportation by District A Court.

These actions are part of the Immigration Department’s broader efforts to enforce immigration laws and deport non-nationals in the country illegally, particularly those involved in criminal activities, including firearms-related offenses.
