Members of the Jamaican community in Antigua and Barbuda are organising a major relief drive to assist families affected by Hurricane Melissa.

A public meeting is scheduled for Saturday, 8 November, at 6 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Centre in Perry Bay to finalise plans.

Organisers are appealing for donations of non-perishable food, clothing, water and medical supplies, which will be shipped to Jamaica through regional partners.

They say the response is urgent, as many communities remain without power, water or adequate shelter following the storm.

Community leaders are calling on residents, businesses and civic groups to support the initiative and attend Saturday’s meeting.
