Jamaica: Buggery and Abortion Laws to Remain Unchanged During Constitutional Reform Process

Minister Marlene Malahoo Forte assures religious community that the government has no intention to alter savings law clauses or repeal existing laws that go against Church beliefs.

In her parliamentary speech, she emphasized that the administration under Andrew Holness respects the values that define Jamaican society, including the buggery law and abortion law protected by the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms.

The minister also shared a personal story of her mother’s refusal to abort her, stating her firm stance against changing abortion laws based on her own history and circumstances.
