Jahzia Reid Crowned Winner of 30th Optimist Petit Show
Ten-year-old Jahzia Reid of Sunnyside School was crowned the overall winner of the 30th annual Optimist Petit Show, hosted by the Optimist Club of Antigua on Sunday at the UWI Global Campus.
Sponsored by Auto Craze Parts and Accessories, Jahzia outshone eight other pre-teen contestants—eight girls and one boy—ranging in age from 9 to 11, in a spirited showcase of talent, confidence, and ambition.
The event, which celebrates three decades of promoting youth development, featured judged segments in talent, personality, and aspiration. Contestants also took part in interviews, an opening number, and an evening/party wear segment, though the latter were not scored.
First runner-up went to Shatoya Kendall, 10, of Five Islands Primary School, sponsored by Civil Engineering and Associated Services.
Second runner-up was Azalyah Ambrose, 11, of Pigotts Primary School, sponsored by Millennium Brokerage and Equipment Services.
Jaedah Baird, 10, of Villa Primary School, sponsored by Glenn’s Pet Paradise, placed third runner-up.
Billed as “not your typical pageant,” the Optimist Petit Show remains a beloved platform for nurturing the confidence and creativity of Antigua’s youth.
