Island Clinics to Get Major Upgrade with $10M Green Climate Fund Grant
Ten community clinics across Antigua and Barbuda are set for major renovations as part of a $10 million project aimed at strengthening the country’s primary healthcare system.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Michael JosephMichael Joseph, announced that the upgrades will include new three-storey buildings, with dedicated storage areas and modern layouts.
The plans have already received structural approval, and technical teams are finalizing operational designs.
“With this injection of funding, the aim is to strengthen primary health care,” Joseph said, noting that the upgrades will ease pressure on hospitals and improve access to care at the community level.
Beyond infrastructure, the ministry is also working to boost healthcare programmes, improve data collection, and address staffing gaps in the system.

Finally! Some of our clinics badly need upgrades. This money couldn’t come soon enough.
Hope the money actually reach the clinics and nuh disappear in red tape and ‘consultations’.
Some clinics nuh even have running water all the time. Dis money haffi fix basics first.
Where exactly the upgrades going? Barbuda must not be left out!
How many clinics will benefit? Hope it nah just town clinics getting attention.
Clinics will get the least, the politicians will create boards and CEO position that will take the monies, maybe even shell companies own by politicians. Because the idea that it takes someone outside to compel the government to take care of it’s citizens i mentally lethargic.
Whoever responsible for the upkeep of the Vila polyclinic should be put in charge to care for all other clinics. Why is it Villa is so well kept, and the others seem so damn run down. Ask yourself a question
Health clinics are indeed sorely needed. I remember being tended to by doctors and nurses at the clinic in my community all those years ago and this particular clinic is still in operation so it makes me happy that other communities will have access to them as well. Access to good health care is critical to our people’s well being, so kudos to the minister and I pray this is a perpetual part of each community.
this is like putting butter in bread and telling me it’s cheese.
I wish nothing but the best for you Mr J. We the people of grays farm can see your heart. You show up.
I see something good in this man. Many times i hear Gaston speaking about a young person to succeed him as leader. This is the one. The chosen one. This man is serious about development.
Clinics deserves the best care out here. This is where people go for proper health. It’s too longstanding that health care facilities are facing neglects
These clinics have been long sitting and not getting attention from anyone. good initiative i suggest Mr. Joseph
