Is Frontier Airlines Pulling Out of Antigua and Barbuda, UPP asks Tourism Minister Fernandez

The United Progressive Party (UPP) is calling on Minister of Tourism Charles “Max” Fernandez to inform the public whether Frontier Airlines is pulling out of Antigua and Barbuda, as it appears.

Neither the airline nor the Government has made an official announcement, but Frontier has no flights between Orlando and Antigua and Barbuda in its booking system beyond September 10.

When contacted, Frontier reservations agents were tight lipped about whether this was a discontinuation of service or the result of an off-season schedule.

On August 2, Frontier uploaded new information about its schedule between November 2022 and January 2023, revealing that it will be cutting more than 4,000 flights, Simple Flying reports.

In total, the carrier appears to have dropped 43 routes that were expected to operate over the winter season, with no sign that the company will revive them.

It is not clear whether there was a minimum-revenue guarantee in place between the airline and the Government. But Frontier’s passenger loads, though not large, were consistent guests of The Royalton, taxi operators say.

  1. And what if they are pulling out… Isn’t all this based on demand and supply? These #UPPNEARGA never cease to amaze as to the low they would go to try and discredit this country. Whatabout the good news that tourism numbers are up nothing turns on this and worthy of celebrating by you set of desperate bunch.

I am awaiting a pie in the sky promise that under a #UPPNEARGA administration British Airways will fly an A380 daily to Antigua and AA will fly a 777-300(ER)

    • Don’t worry, the real pie in the sky is Antigua Airways and the plane loads of African fraudsters that Gaston plans to bring to our shores. BTW why is he in such a rush to do this deal? Is the Prime Minister also the Minister of Aviation. It looks like the PM is the new aviation expert and he is brokering the deal.

  2. The commercial aviation industry has suffered a catastrophic loss of flight crews due to mandatory covid vaccinations. Due to these requirements, many senior captains opted for early retirement and others simply quit and pursued new careers outside of aviation.
Also, the Biden administration has imposed significant penalties against air carriers for delayed and cancelled flights which is now having a snowball effect, causing airlines to drop routes that aren’t most profitable.

The most scary 9 words in the English language “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”.

  3. UPP new strategy is to ask questions in the media. I guess since they do not think Pringle is doing a good job in Parliament asking the questions, they will ask them in the media and hope someone answers them. Well sorry guys but parliament is not run on the media or in the street. We have a building where parliament is held. And only one of you guys is elected to that house. So only one can come and ask questions from the Minister or the Prime Minister. And after the next election none of you guys will be in there. 17 – 0.

    • @ From The Sideline

again I agree with you, because you will be holding everybody’s hands to take them into the booth to vote……YOU ARE BRILLIANT.

ONE THING ABOUT YOU ABLP MINIONS IS THAT YOU ARE SO BRILLIANT AND SKILLFUL, JUST THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEAS OF YOUR OWN. ALL YOU DO IS COG😊😊😊😊😊😊

    • @ Sidelines: I cannot believe what I just read coming from you. That you would want to see 17-0.Would that be good for the Country? You are only thinking of Party and not Country. Then we would surely have a full blown Dictatorship.Where no questions are asked and none answered by Gaston Browne.Where he would be allowed to spend the Nation’s money any where and anyhow he sees fit without regards. He would be able to give all lands away to the rich and the Chinese with any oversights. If and when that day ever comes.Antigua would be going to hell in a hand basket. Then again, your fat arse is looking for handouts,so keep on singing for your meals.

      • Well, it was good for Barbados. And it was good for Grenada. Why wouldn’t it be good for Antigua? Especially when the UPP can present the country with laggard losers and charlatans. It is better that we have none at all. Browne holds himself to a high standard, does not need the low standard that the UPP set.

  4. It’s a simple question. Why Labourites so thin skinned and so easily irritated? Nobody is blaming the government. The airline is having problems so why not give people a heads up? Certainly this issue is more important to the general public than publicizing people’s personal business.

  5. Its slow season , most airlines have cut back.. Nttg new this time of the year !

American Airlines have cut 3,000 flights

  6. I bet your bottom Dollar, you won’t hear any response from the Minister of Tourism Charles “Much Less” Fernández about this.

WHY DO THESE GUYS GO INTO HIDING WHEN THE NEWS DOESN’T FAVOUR THEM?

ABLP MUST LEARN TO RIDE THE WAVES OR GET OUT … LIFE HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT THE UPS AND DOWNS!

  7. Hi Brixxy love tone i am still wondering your alias … do u just run with the narrow crowd or do u really believe in your diatribe…. people who speak to themselves are called crazy … be careful bro or sis… oh i get it this is harold love evergreen .. with my dare wife advise me ……. what a calallo want to lead a party and cant even lead your home

    • Learn to debate @ Curious or people might think that all you good for is distracting from the real suffering that Antiguans are going through under the Gaston Browne’s tenure and the ABLP’S rudderless ship.

You act and sound like a ABLP generational supporter that will vote for Gaston come what may, despite your struggles in life …

  8. Frontier Airlines and others advertised flights and have a following of customers who have come to rely on these services. Customers have been asking since spring about the winter schedule. They need to reserve tickets from these airlines to travel to/from Antigua. Customers have to plan, sometimes a year ahead. With the tourism season about to begin, are travelers supposed to wait until they are at to the airport to book a flight to Antigua? When potential travelers don’t have reasonable information, they go elsewhere! Antigua is not the only country on the planet with sun, sea and sand.

If you did a little digging, you would become aware that Frontier received approval from the U.S. government to fly nonstop between Orlando and Antigua between December 2021 and September 2022 only weeks before it’s virgin flight. In fact, at one point the approval was delayed so they removed the original virgin flight from the schedule.

And since when Antiguans don’t ask questions? Questioning is how we get simple information!! Not asking questions is DUNCENESS! I’m ALWAYS stunned by how a SIMPLE question becomes political. But I shouldn’t be. Your PM has conditioned you to accept BS for breakfast. Really sad!
