Green Magnates Ent., representing Irene B. Williams Secondary School (IBWSS), won the inaugural Regional Schools Investment Competition in Antigua and Barbuda.
At a prize giving ceremony held on May 31, 2023, the team received a plaque, and the students and their teacher-guide were awarded certificates and prizes.
Ms. Sandra Derrick from the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange (ECSE) gave the welcome remarks, and Denise Mills from the Ministry of Education congratulated the team.
Miss Alanna Merchant, a student member of Green Magnates Ent., shared the team’s experience and thanked their supporters, including their teacher-guide, Ms. Antonia Sampson.
The competition aims to introduce investing to young students and create future market participants. Green Magnates Ent. ranked 3rd out of seven competitors in the regional round.
AHS Angel Investors from Anglican High School in Grenada were the runners-up, and VFCSS Invest from Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School, Saint Lucia, were the regional champions.
