InterCaribbean Services Stir Concerns for Guyanese Honorary Consul in Antigua and Barbuda

Guyana Honorary Consul in Antigua and Barbuda, Robert Reis, has expressed deep concern over recent customer service experiences with InterCaribbean Airlines.

In the past six weeks, complaints have arisen about cancelled and delayed flights across various destinations served by the airline.

Passengers report a lack of empathy and accountability from the airline and its handling agents.

Compensation has not been provided to travelers inconvenienced in Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, and Guyana, leading to additional financial burdens for affected passengers.

The Guyanese community, particularly those traveling from Tortola, BVI, Montserrat, and Antigua to Guyana, have been significantly affected.

Mr. Reis urges governments to engage with the airline and ensure service agreements are honored.

  1. I believe this is a very important advise from Mr. Reis. If the airline in operating within the region, there must be certain expectations and the governments must look into the interest of its citizen.

I recently purchased some tickets for some passengers travelling from Antigua to Guyana. When the flight got into Barbados, the agents asked them why Antigua sent them on the flight and they knew that the flight to Barbados was cancelled? The agents went home and just left the passengers there – no arrangements for food or accommodation.

Really distasteful customer service from this airline. Although I found the agents in Barbados to be rude, it seems as though the problem is at the very core of this Airline. The BGI agents working for one of the UK airline would never have reacted in this way becuase they would have known that the airline would never take such bad customer service lightly.

This airline needs a major overall in its customer service.

  2. Namaskar : i am a guyanese trying to live a quiet and progressive life . My fellow Guyanese are making problems in all areas of my life ; trying to humiliate me as much as possible .This mostly comes from the low caste or labourer caste ; the so-called uneducated people instigated by our so called upper class. What to do when the general mass has become stubborn
Situations would go to the extent where i have to approach authorities here for help. They do not help myself or family but have taken some sadistic recourse to my problems and life here .It gives one a horibble impression about whom i am living with .
