In the fiscal year 2023, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) of a certain country excelled, achieving a revenue collection of over $559.5 million, surpassing the previous year’s $497.8 million.

Commissioner Ralph Warner credited improved surveillance and increased economic activity. Corporate income tax, ABST, property tax, and travel tax primarily fueled the growth.

ABST, the main revenue source, contributed $330.3 million, up by $27.4 million. Corporate income tax rose from $62.1 million to $101.4 million, fueled by arrears collection and heightened audits.

Despite record collections, exemptions and tax amnesties, like a property tax waiver ($8 million) and stamp duty waiver ($20 million), led to a shortfall from the $580 million target.

Warner, while acknowledging economic stimulation, foresaw surpassing 2023 collections in the current year without planned waivers or exemptions, especially with a 2% ABST increase from January 1, 2024.

  1. With all them money collected from Customs and Inland Revenue , I should see my gratuity money in my bank account this month end. Mr. Attorney General I have obligations and I did not retire to be scrunting for what I already worked for.

  2. Where is all this money going? As an Antiguan, am I not entitled to know; even if ABLP people don’t care? Where are the documents to clearly show detailed expenditure? Most of all, why this govt always seems to be scrunting for more money from us?
Boy, this “personal enrichment” not easy

  3. AN INDEPENDENT AUDIT OF BOTH MONIES COLLECTED AND THE EXEMPTIONS IS NEEDED. THE PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW. THE SAME APPLIES TO CUSTOMS ALSO.

  4. All this money coming in.. 😂. Weh it deh? Gatson Browne waste up de money the Africans way he bring in, who he had house and feed, more wasted money on palms trees, the bad deals with Antigua Airways, the Air Peace deal that is bound to fail. More money garn into the Alpha Nero and the bad losses in a failed auction. Spending money on lawyers to no end.

All the money lost chasing Shuggy’s tail in SM South where Shuggy bang him twice. All the money fighting Shuggy in court to no avail.

All the monies spent every minute he deh a broad with his band of Merry men.

And not to mention all the monies he owes to the Chinese.

This man spent off all of Antigua’s money, and the road an dem still bad, the city is a dump, garbage ain’t getting picked up, and the list goes on and on.

What a terrible blunder we have made to put this man back in office.. This gots to be the biggest, and most blatant ripoff in any political history, in all of the Caribbean.

Antigua is doomed for a while, trust me.
