This is a GOOD DAY for Antigua and Barbuda, but a SAD DAY for all the NAY SAYERS and Badminded people like Brixtonian, Audley Phillip, Musington and other BPM Members who wish nothing good when it comes to development for the Island of Barbuda and the Barbudans. They will of course continue their lies and deceits and keep telling you all kinds of evil about out Prime Minister. Yesterday Al ask Joan Massiah what she thought of the New Barbuda Airport, and you know she said it was a good thing, but the Prime Minister should have gotten more buy-in from the Barbudans. I wonder is she is aware that the Barbudans voted on this airport plan when Arthur Nibbs was head of the council. Therefore there was buy-in. But of course the minute the BPM took back the leadership of the council, they tried to reverse ALL those decisions, but sorry too late for than, and now they try going to the court to try and stop or delay these projects. if the PM is one that would let people with bad mind and no good intention run his programs, he would never have seen this day. You cannot negotiate with people that have ulterior motives. And you better have a sixth sense when they turn up.

  32. BPM Members, Sadly missing at this historic occasion. They hate the PM so much that even at a ceremony that will benefits the Island they said to love so much they cannot be part of. I wonder if they will ever take a flight out of that airport. They can continue taking the ferry for that purpose. Sick people.

  34. If a family of lets say six persons travels to Barbuda on commercial jet, they usually will travel 1st class or business class. The cost of airfare will be about US$8000 per person. Total US$48K. Then they have to take transportation from the airport usually Calvin Air Helicopters or BMN Air SVG. The cost cost could be as high as US$6K. So were are looking at about US$54 for a family to travel to Barbuda. With the opening of this airport the family would be better of to rent a jet. From Miami this could be as low as US$30K for six persons. This is the kind of saving that this family can have and no hassle at airports and bags logging and checking in at airport. Note that these types of tourist are high earners and big spenders. They stay in hotels that are charging US$1000 per room per night. Tips for staff are usually at a minimum US$1000.

  35. Looks like I’ll be flying with Caribbean Airlines in the future. I’m in FULL support of our fellow countrymen and women who have been shafted once again by the Browne administration.

    Do not worry Barbudan’s, you’ll live to fight again. Your tenacity in trying to ensure that your voices are heard on land rights, the uber rich trying to claim more of your land; and not forgetting the ABLP underhand land grabbing tactics.

    When the UPP are restored to POWER in January 2028 everything that you are currently fighting for will be resolved and then restored to you. Guaranteed!

  36. Next step for Browne and his clowns is to clean up St John’s in Antigua. Let’s see if he has the same enthusiasm as this launch in Barbuda.

    You know you read my comments and just extract one part and miss the entire purpose of my comment. Just like Brix you perhaps have a reading comprehension.
    But that aside. Criminals we have seen come from all sorts of classes. Perhaps you forgot the grewsome murder of our Comptroller of Custom. And what we learned was his love for young boys and making sex tapes. Now back to present we now learn a lot about Sean John Combs, also known by his stage names Diddy. These things fortunately come to light. But do we have to think that ALL High Net Worth individuals are like that? I don’t think so. Antigua and Barbuda has been a vacation place and home for many of the Rich and Famous. Many of whom we do not even know live here or vacation here. They do not want the publicity. Places like Jumby Bay, Mill Reef Club, Curtain Bluff are places they stay and some have other private homes around the coastal areas. Now PHL will be yet another hideaway for the Rich and Famous. And so will Paradise Found. When I look at the early tourism product of Antigua and what we have become in the 90s up until today it is sad. We used to be know as an island only for the Rich and Famous, but since the introduction of the back of the plane tourism we have attracted people that have no money and leave no tip for our people. Be it the hotel workers or the taxi drivers. Just ask the older taxi drivers and they will tell you about the old days of driving these rich people.

  50. First of all, this airport is NOT an international airport. A Barbudan student in Barbados, the US, Europe etc, cannot book a flight there to Barbuda. And, don’t tell me that could happen in 20 years! Well, wait until then to call it an international airport.
    See, there is a lot of emotions, I call it ‘simpleness’, posted here but the facts are: once more wool has been pulled over our eyes and just like in the song hotel California i.e many dance to forget and refuse to release themselves from the ever present spirit of mammon, which continue to devour us.
