The Antigua and Barbuda Immigration Department will host a community engagement session with members of the Hispanic community on Friday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m. at the Multipurpose Cultural Centre.

The interactive session will focus on explaining the procedures for residency and citizenship in Antigua and Barbuda. Presentations will be led by Chief Immigration Officer Ms. Katrina Yearwood and other senior immigration officials, who will provide guidance and answer questions from attendees.

The Attorney General and Minister responsible for Immigration, the Hon. Sir Steadroy Benjamin, will also deliver remarks, underscoring the government’s commitment to inclusivity and open dialogue with all communities residing in Antigua and Barbuda.

This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Embassy and Consulate of the Dominican Republic and the Antigua and Barbuda Immigration Department, aimed at strengthening relations and ensuring greater awareness of immigration processes among members of the Hispanic community.

  1. Are they in charge of this country? Why don’t the immigration think of giving the real Antiguan the rights and protection to help them from the damages inflicted by these foreigners, I had one working for me after placing an add on the radio for Antiguan workers failed, that person mash up my equipment and saw me in town pointing that I could go to immigration, when I was in the virgin islands, being fired mean deportation. And especially those syrians they should be deported .
Lawdie ALP just want votes, the pressure on, the more crime the ALP committed against the country they have to give amnesty and amass foreigners I to the country to vote to keep them from jail.

  2. Elread…Wow same thing Trump is doing in USA and you hate the “White supremacist Trump’s policies”.. Now look at you.. same narrative..IS laughable your attitude.
Everyone is pointing Trump for what he is doing with ICE in USA.. But at the End all want to do the same in their countries. You don’t want Spanish getting special treatment here over locals, the same Trump want in USA.

  3. While I applaud this move, Miss Yearwood must first train her staff. Every person at Immigration tells you something different. I have been here for 15 years. I work honestly and pay all my taxes and statutory contributions. I applied for citizenship. Following my final interview with Immigration, it took 18 months before Immigration sent the completed documents to Citizenship/Passport Office for that process to begin. And many, not all, of the Immigration Officers lack basic manners. And Cabinet had made a decision that once the process had started at Citizenship persons would be allowed to work and remain legally until the Swearing in. But not so. I still have to go to Immigration every 3 months, fill out the same form every time and pay $150.
My point is that Immigration seems to operate on a whim.

  4. Truth seeker you’re so right, I’ve been waiting since 23 when I started my application and now I have to pay$150 every 3 months, just like yourself. I have friends that started after me and some same time with me, but they already got their citizenship whilst I’m still waiting and paying.

  5. I agree with some of the pigs at immigration.
I had an experience once with one of them. I walked in and the opening remarks to me was
” A who you be ? ” in a tone that I wouldn’t even address my dog in.
I obviously addressed her one time and was prepared to be deported immediately cause a we did name hothead back then. She turned and walked away and didn’t say another word.
The other 2 and the front desk turned to each other and mumbled ” a why she always haffu behave so “….but I bet she will always remember that moment in her life and of course my face 😈.
