Shenseea Defends Her Lyrics Amid Criticism of Being ‘Smutty’

Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea addressed criticism of her music’s lyrics during a radio interview yesterday, firmly defending her artistic choices and challenging detractors who label some of her songs as “smutty.”

When asked about the explicit nature of some of her lyrics, Shenseea responded, “There’s nothing that I’m singing about that nobody on this Earth is doing, and that’s just the truth.”

She went on to highlight the hypocrisy of some critics, adding, “People will be so hypocritical sometimes because it might not come off in a way that you like, and we’re okay with that. But let’s not act like this doesn’t exist.”

Shenseea’s unapologetic stance reflects her commitment to authenticity in her music and her connection to real-life experiences.

The artist, who performed to a packed crowd at the One Nation Music Festival last night, continues to captivate audiences with her bold and unfiltered style.

The festival resumes tonight with a gospel-themed lineup, featuring Grammy-winning artist Donnie McClurkin and other inspirational performers.

  1. Smut is smut! It’s like poop and once you shit and get it out it is what it is. Dancehall smutty, pornographic lyrics is killing reggae music. These artists ain’t no different than prostitutes f**king for money.

  2. Hey all you people in the comments are clowns, y’all probably got more skeletons in the closet and acting like your all so righteous. MAKES ME SICK

  3. Good riddance lady, it is singers like you that help to fan the flames of this generation causing them to behave the way they do. Keep it in Jamaica.

  4. @Deliverance, I am not perfect at all. If the debate was about perfection, I would say I am not. The debate was about, do we have to make music just about this? I remember was it was embarrassing to hear women exchanging money for sex and now it is cool to openly express you will have sex for money as long as the man can afford it. I am single to this day because it seems no quality women is left.

So I am not saying I am perfect, I am saying do we have to be how we are? Can’t we be better?
