NHC – A new weather development, Tropical Depression Thirteen, has emerged in the central tropical Atlantic, with the potential to intensify into a formidable hurricane by the end of the week.
At 1100 AM AST, the depression was located at latitude 12.5 North and longitude 40.2 West, approximately 1425 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.
Presently, it sustains winds of 35 mph and is moving west-northwest at 15 mph.
The system is projected to evolve into a hurricane within a few days, possibly even reaching major hurricane status.
Although there are currently no watches or warnings issued, those in the Leeward Islands are advised to closely monitor the depression’s progress.
