More than 750 men attended the 17th annual prostate cancer screening clinic in Antigua on Saturday, underscoring the importance of early detection in tackling one of the deadliest cancers among men.
The event, led by Dr Dwayne Thwaites and Associates in partnership with the Lions Club of Antigua, provided PSA blood tests, medical examinations, and checks for blood pressure and blood sugar. Despite poor weather, men began arriving from 7am.
Lions Club president Ileathea Cabral described the turnout as “encouraging”. The Antigua Leos Club also hosted a breakfast fundraiser to support community initiatives.

Support came from the Medical Benefits Scheme, Sagicor Insurance, Do Blue Foundation and other sponsors, allowing services to be offered at affordable rates. The American University of Antigua, police and local businesses also contributed.
Organisers stressed that early detection saves lives and pledged to expand the programme next year.
