Hundreds of cell phones seized from prisoners

The Superintendent of Her Majesty’s Prison Albert Wade says more than 400 cell phones have been seized from prisons in the last two years.

The Prison Superintendent reported that 69 cell phones have been confiscated from prisoners during these past three months alone.

Since taking up the job of Superintendent, he noted that more than 400 cell phones have been confiscated.

In the past, prisoners have used the devices to capture the conditions inside the prison as well as to communicate with family and friends on the outside.

Wade said despite the frequent raids authorities would have to do more to curb the entry of unlawful items into the prison.
