An amendment has been made to the Midwifery Amendment Bill 2024, which modifies the Principal Act from 1959 (CAP 281). This new legislation alters the composition of the Midwives Board, increasing its membership from five to seven members.

The Board will now include the Chief Medical Officer (Chairperson), Principal Nursing Officer (Deputy Chairperson), Director of Nursing at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, Head of the Midwifery Training Programme at the Antigua State College, a Nurses Association appointee, and two Cabinet appointees. Consequently, the quorum has been raised from three to five members.

The bill also updates the language by replacing “Chairman” with “Chairperson” and “Governor General” with “Minister.” There was minimal debate on the bill.

  1. Watch Sir Lift Rolls Royce Over the Port Fence, someone who doesn’t know shit about anything medical but in charge of health. Well one day he too like Pussy Salad, will get his fair share of dementia and that will be his demise.
