MP Anthony Smith Jr. Pays Heartfelt Tribute to His Grandmother, ‘Teacher Gen,’
All Saints West MP Anthony Smith Jr. has issued a deeply personal tribute to his grandmother, Genevieve “Teacher Gen” Smith, remembering her as a woman whose life was defined by love, service, and unwavering devotion to others.
In a message shared with constituents and the wider public, Smith said there were “no words” that could fully express what his grandmother meant to him, their family, and the countless people she touched across Antigua and Barbuda.
“My dear Granny, words can’t express what you meant to me, to our family, to your community, and to so many lives across Antigua and Barbuda. You lived your life loving, teaching and helping others,” Smith wrote.
Teacher Gen, a revered educator and community matriarch, served more than 40 years in the classroom and fostered 63 children, leaving an indelible imprint on generations of families. Her passing has sparked widespread mourning, with tributes flowing from across Potters Village, All Saints West, and the national education community.
Smith thanked the public for the outpouring of condolences and support the family has received, acknowledging how deeply loved Teacher Gen was.
The MP closed his tribute with a message of eternal remembrance: “Sleep in eternal peace, Teacher Genevieve Smith. You will always be in our hearts.”
Her legacy—as a teacher, caregiver, and source of comfort and strength—continues to resonate with those who knew her, and her grandson’s tribute underscores the profound personal loss felt within the family and community.
