A reported series of home invasions in Swetes ended with a high-speed police chase, a vehicle crash and the apprehension of suspects, according to information shared by a resident.
The resident said intruders forced their way into a home shortly before noon on Monday by damaging the back door’s deadbolt while one of the homeowner’s daughters was inside.
The suspects allegedly demanded money and gold before fleeing with EC$165 in cash and an iPhone.
The homeowner later learned that at least two other homes in the village were also targeted, while a neighbour confirmed their residence had also been robbed.
Later that evening, police reportedly pursued the suspects through Swetes. During the chase, the suspects allegedly crashed a silver vehicle into a fence before fleeing on foot. They were subsequently apprehended by police.
Police have not yet issued an official statement confirming the reported incidents or arrests.
The resident said they were thankful that their daughter was not physically harmed and appealed to anyone with information that could assist the investigation to contact the police.

Too bad they weren’t killed in the chase. Now we will wait for over a year before they get to trial and then the courts will give them a much too lenient sentence.
The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crimes.
Well done to the police in the apprehension of these criminals; and thankfully no serious harm came to the residents concerned.
The worrying thing though, is that these thieves are getting more and more brazen by the dsy. Antiguans major concerns were normally about home invasions in the dead of night, but we are hearing a lot more about daytime robberies and break-ins.
And yet we hear from certain government ministers, that Antiguans have absolutely nothing to worry about compared to other Caribbean countries in the region.
This sounds like a very poor excuse to me, for them not to tackle the current growth in crimes and misdemeanors going on right now. Utterly reprehensible!

The police and the suspects were on a high speed chase until the suspects car crashed. They abandon their vehicle and the police gave chase after them. Even if the police didn’t want to kill them, the police should put them in a wheel chair so that they won’t break into people house again. The public is congratulating the police for a job well done and are happy that the home owner daughter was not hurt during the robbery. Now let us flip the coin. If any of these men were shot by the police, social media would be on fire blaming the police for shooting and mabe killing them. These type of daylight robberies are carried out by little boys who don’t want to work and when they get kill, they starting to blame police love to shoot. Antigua can be a good place only when people of this country stop support crime.

yea i see some of them riding bikes with hoodies on scooping out homes, some cut your yard and watch for ways to break in then tell their friends

The police always does an excellent job in apprehending criminals. The problem is the court who will release them after the police waste their time to catch them.
