Antigua and Barbuda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Her
Excellency Karen-Mae Hill officially handed over several air conditioning units to the Antigua
Girls’ High School (AGHS).

This donation is part of an effort to provide a more comfortable learning environment for students and teachers.

As an “Old Girl” and a regular donor, High Commissioner Hill contacted AGHS principal, Mrs
Theoline Croft following reports about students and teachers being affected by the lack of
sufficient ventilation and the need to prevent it from impeding the quality of teaching and
learning. High Commission Hill also visited the school and the block with the ventilation issue to see what could be done to remedy the situation.

Following the visit, arrangements were made to ship and install the air conditioning units free of cost to the AGHS.

High Commissioner Hill noted that as a proud past student, it is her duty to ensure that subsequent generations of students are not only receiving the best in learning, but they also do so in the best environment to foster academic growth and development.

Her Excellency also encourages past students from all schools across Antigua and Barbuda to contribute in whatever meaningful way to the further development of their alma maters, which in turn will positively shape the future minds of the nation

  1. They should make her Excellency Karen-Mae Hill, DIPLOMAT OF THE YEAR. And if that title doesn’t exist they should start it.
She has been instrumental in many areas of Antigua’s and Barbuda’s Social and Cultural life.
Kudos to her and much love

    • I had the privilege to engage Her Excellency in conversation and she is riveting. Her love and passion for Antigua is palpable. Between her diplomatic role and her extra activities, I question if this woman sleeps! She told me that any opportunity she encounters that will benefit the people of Antigua and Barbuda, she will not allow to pass by unanswered. I do not think we are fully cognizant of the gem we have.

      • Believe me Antiguans love ugly. If it were something negative they could find on her you would see and hear that all over the media. But she doing good is like saying something nice about the government and that is a NO NO. I am proud of her. Very proud. She is really a wonderful representation of Antigua and Barbuda in England

  2. I wonder if the government waived the ridiculous 149% duty on air conditioners for her and the children
