Here’s why I oppose the UPP at this time

The main reason why I oppose UPP at this time was because of the significant increase in good, and taxes when they first won the election. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP FOR NEWS UPDATES

I left to attend college, at that time a punch soda was $2.50, when I returned to visit, the same soda was $6.00.

This was during a really bad economic time. The increase was from taxes mainly. Any political party increasing taxes that substantially and during a recession can not easily be considered by me as a competent party.

The other thing was how hard it was to get financial assistance for studying. Saying there are too many people within this field so we are not offering financial assistance for the study of law.

I truly believed had that moment not existed, the Antigua Economy would have been significantly better.

I have to be honest based on the economy, and what is better of the options available, ABLP is the better for the country.

A lot of people I speak to say PM Brown is rough, rude, argumentative and arrogant. I may agree from my perspective that he may be a few of those and sometimes to me comes off as a bully (I can be wrong), but at this time, there seems to be no better leader than he is within the arena at this time.

I know better exist, but getting into politics is not that easy. I think for PM Brown to be the best of the best, his attitude and outlook must get a makeover.

It is important how people see you. The intelligent person considers everything. Politics can be clean, it can just be about helping the people you want to elect you. You can focus on the issues that the people need. They need jobs, money, homes, safety, harmony, future, and other national interests.

Politicians can focus on these things without defaming and disparaging each other.

Just focus on the issues, try it once. The PM already has the job, focus on the issues, and no more bullying type conduct and I am positive this PM reign will not come to an end anytime soon.

Also, a great politician is a politician who did not become a millionaire while serving the people but before or after. If you are making much more money than you made prior to serving the people, something MAY be wrong.

I like this article. May not agree with everything but I like it. CLICK HERE TO JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP FOR NEWS UPDATES.

YOU USEFUL IDIOTS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES – ANTIGUANS HAVE NEVER HAD IT THIS HARD IN DEM LIFE BEFORE. WHAT A TRAVESTY.

  3. Wow what a perfect konumunu I not saying that you are lying but you are not telling the truth my farther always tells me not to tell a big man that he is lying tell him that he is not telling the truth that will hurt him more. You said that you left Antigua to study when you left the price of a soda was 250 when you came back It is $6.00 that is a lie.You applied for financial assistance to study law you were denied I would have done the same if I was in the position to Grant you the funding. I want you to look at the environment today do you think that we have to much lawyers how many are specialist within the field. Most of our lawyers cannot make a decent representation at the high and appeals court they are not ready don’t talk about the Prevy Council notice that only a few make the mark. What we are short of electrical engineers that is where any government today should focus . Imagine an elevator at our Air Port or the exculator is not working we have to send to China or Trinidad for some one to come and fix . The time has come for us to look at our human resource and focus on too the future. My other point is leadership their is no comparison I think the voters will make the right choice this time around. It was twice Antigua and Barbuda voted against their interest. In 1976 and 2014 now we are paying the price.I will be short I don’t want to bore you think about the implications of programs that we can reflect upon Social security Agreculture , Tourism and the most important transport the purchasing of LIAT 1974 limited thats progress.Again we voted against so much in the last ten years of the UPP let your conchunce be your gide if you have one . In summary for the last Eight years show me.

  4. Editor of ANR I know all ideas must contend and that in a democratic society freedom of expression is fundamental to such a society. However, I am becoming quite amused at the plethora of all these articles that are being published without the names of the authors. Authors should be able to stand by their opinions and not hide behind pseudonyms. One can assume that this article in particular is written by a lawyer, since one of his issues with the UPP is the fact that he did not get financial assistance to study law since that area of study was not given support. Finally, to prove that this article is pure propaganda, the author is criticizing the UPP for not focusing on issues. It is the ALP government that needs to focus on the critical issues that affect this country and find solutions to them. I must admit that these types of nameless pro-ALP administration articles seem to be a new form of political propaganda.

    • @Charles Tabor. Thank you so much sir. I was thinking exactly the same thing. It seems like there is a “writing mill” where these nameless, faceless people are sending this dribble to ANR who then publishes it.

  5. This writer’s main concern is money. This is the type of voter that can be bought for a turkey or a ham and probably will be. Such narrow self interest… Shame on him.

  6. Boy, the Labour party real desperate. First, Fitzroy on the fence used to post once a week. Then he would change the name to Nomad or Youth. True Davis was the name of choice.
PAPA DOC ( oh sorry, PAPA JACK ) now no name posting twice a day.

    LOOK A DESPERATION!
    ABLP YOUR TIME IS UP!

  7. RESULTS ELECTION 2023

    ABLP. 17 SEATS

UPP. 00 SEAT ( 10 CANDIDATES WILL LOSE DEPOSITS )

DNA. 00 SEAT ( ALL CANDIDATES LOSE DEPOSITS)

    BARBUDA. 00 SEAT

    TOTAL.LANDSLIDE VICTOFY FOR ABLP.

UPP just make noises on Radio. You cannot win election by making noise on radio. UPP have Their serial callers on radio everyday.

  8. The amount of these type of – one sided – ABLP letters to the editor of the ANR is bordering on the ridiculous now.

The propaganda, indoctrination, misinformation and disinformation continues unabated, and is obviously preparing the way for an election; and if ABLP keep these lies uppermost in people’s minds they are hoping that the electorate will eventually succumb to all this utter nonsense.

However, wise Antiguans have worked out what all these government TROLLS are up to.

These antics can only works on the gullible, the credulous, the unworldly, and especially the “generational” ABLP support base.

I’ll go one step further, if we ever find out who is giving the go ahead behind these governmental TROLLING letters, none of us would be in the least bit surprised as to who it is!

    ONE GUESS … 🥸

    • @ BRIX, I beg to disagree; even the gullible are getting wise! The letters have lost their novelty and are now stale. Go to ANR Facebook page and see how this Troll, who is known to all is ,cussed by the bloggers.

  9. Let’s not be bias. It is healthy to hear both sides of the isle. The writer is entitled to their opinion and the right to anonymity.
However, I disagree with the writer. The reasons you gave for opposing the UPP is not legitimate. There are way more pressing matters that needs attention that the current administration is ignoring. The water crisis is first and foremost. Water is the staff of life. The economy is just as important, the cost of living is killing us. Gaston made no effort to make it easier for the local people. Instead, he is desperate to stay in power. The only way to make things better is to effect change. We must make a change before it’s to late.
