Two more athletes have secured qualification for Antigua and Barbuda’s CARIFTA team, continuing the country’s steady buildup ahead of the regional championships, the Antigua and Barbuda Athletic Association said.

Geron Henry qualified in the Under-17 boys’ 400 meters, earning his first CARIFTA berth after a strong performance that marked a milestone in his development as a quarter-miler.

Maliek Francis also booked his place, qualifying in the Under-20 javelin throw. Francis, the former Under-17 record holder, is now in his second year competing at the Under-20 level and has continued to show consistency and power in the event.

The latest qualifiers add depth to Antigua and Barbuda’s contingent as preparations intensify for the 2026 edition of the CARIFTA Games, one of the region’s premier showcases for junior track and field talent.

The association congratulated both athletes and said further additions to the national team are expected as the qualifying period continues.
