Heavy Rains Affect Antigua and Barbuda as Storm Jerry Moves Away

0

Persistent downpours are soaking Antigua and Barbuda this morning, with unstable weather tied to Tropical Storm Jerry still hovering over the region.

Meteorologists report that Jerry has veered northwest and is moving away from the Leeward Islands. As a result, the tropical storm watch for Antigua and the warning for Barbuda have been lifted.

Despite the system’s departure, trailing moisture continues to generate heavy showers and thunderstorms across both islands.

Rainfall totals between 19 and 50 millimeters (0.75 to 2 inches) are forecast, raising the potential for flash flooding in low-lying or flood-prone communities.

A flash flood advisory remains active until 8 a.m., and authorities are urging residents to exercise caution, avoid flooded roads, and stay alert for further weather updates.
