The impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) such as Antigua and Barbuda is significant, both in terms of human lives and economic costs.
Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph, speaking at a HEARTS Initiative Workshop, highlighted data on the prevalence of NCDs in the region. The PAHO-led initiative aims to reduce the risk of premature death from NCDs and address mental health challenges in SIDS.
Discussions at the SIDS4 conference also stressed the need for global attention to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) target 3.4.
Vice Chancellor of UWI, Professor Robinson, was among the workshop’s speakers.

And you can bet your bottom “EC” dollar that our Health Minister Molwyn ‘AstraZeneca’ Joseph will not address the elephant 🐘 in the room at this PAHO led so-called initiative, as to the REAL reasons why there’s an increase in cancers, and cardiovascular issues.
Remember, this man promoted the Covid-19 mandates vociferously, and now he doesn’t mention or help the vaccine injured.
WHY IS HE STILL IN OFFICE?
Praise the Lord my family and I didn’t listen to he 🙏🏽
How is this man still health minister? People continue to drop dead of turbo cancers, strokes, heart attacks, brain aneurysms, blood clots, he can’t account for the 2.16 million dollars cemetery money( the much advertised one on Factory Rd, that was supposed to open in two weeks, full a bush),Healthcare is in shambles, how is he not fired?
Did this joker ever publish the fact that Astrazeneca was pulled because it causes dangerous blood clots? These people have no shame. None
We hear a lot about Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in the CARICOM region, but three things are really needed if less and less people are to get NCDs over the next 20 years. These are:
+ robust public Health Promotion/Health Education programmes
+ much greater emphasis on policy implementation, for example, the CARPHA Six Point Policy Package (2017)
+ a commitment by governments of the region to have as a strategic goal, making each school a Health Promoting School.
