Antigua Sailing Week (ASW) proudly announces the return of Harper’s Office Depot as the official sponsor of the highly anticipated Annual School Art Competition for the 7th consecutive year.

This ongoing partnership reaffirms Harper’s Office Depot’s steadfast commitment to nurturing creativity and artistic expression among young minds here in Antigua & Barbuda.

This year, the competition unveils an inspiring new theme: “Our Power, Our Planet.” The 2025 theme encourages young artists to explore the vital role renewable energy plays in reducing the carbon footprint of Antigua and Barbuda, promoting a sustainable future for our islands.

Participants are invited to express their creativity by illustrating how renewable energy can drive environmental preservation and sustainability

“Harper’s Office Depot has always believed in the power of art to inspire and shape young minds,” said Roy Bento of Harper’s Office Depot. “We are thrilled to support this incredible initiative once more and provide students with a platform to showcase their talents while envisioning a greener future.”

The annual Harper’s School Art Competition invites participants from primary and secondary schools across the island to submit their final pieces for judging by the deadline March 31.

Students between the ages 5 – 16 can create their artwork in various mediums, including painting, drawing, and digital art.

ASW Event Manager and Co-ordinator of this year’s competition Shari Martin expresses pride in this longstanding endeavor “Antigua Sailing Week has been holding this competition since 1970 and I am honored to be able to continue the tradition while keeping in mind the sensibilities of the current generations.”

Family & friends of participants are welcome to the final exhibit at the National Sailing Academy

The competition will culminate in a grand exhibition and prizegiving at the National Sailing Academy on the afternoon of April 12, where winning pieces will be displayed, and outstanding young artists will be recognized with generous prizes from Harpers Office Depot along with local businesses including Stingray City, Adventure Antigua and more.

For additional recognition, the winning entry will be reproduced as a poster and be installed as a year-long welcome sign to English Harbour placed outside of Cobbs Cross Primary School.

Harper’s Office Depot and Antigua Sailing Week invites all schools, art teachers, parents, and students to participate in this annual tradition celebrating creativity and imagination.

Competition themes will be distributed to all public schools within the next week. For more information on how to participate, visit the dedicated Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/ASWSchoolsArt or contact Shari Martin at 725-6651.
