By Anthony Smith Jr.
I have continued to avoid the back and forth, staying focused on the lovely people of All Saints West, finding ways to improve their lives and strengthen our communities. But hearing Mr. Lovell and some UPP loyalists suggest that I’m only working because Harold Lovell is now running in All Saints West has compelled me to write this article and share who Harold Lovell really is.
Harold Lovell didn’t just ignore the people of All Saints West, he betrayed the very man we voted for to represent us.
One of the most disgraceful chapters of his political career was his cold-hearted dismissal of Chandlah Coddington, a man who served the UPP faithfully and represented the same people Lovell now pretends to care about.

Harold Lovell dismissed Sea View Farm, All Saints, Freemans Village, Buckleys, Herberts, and many other villages in All Saints West and now he wants to stop the progress this constituency is finally receiving.
Let’s talk about it.
While holding three of the most powerful ministries in government—Minister of Finance, Minister of Tourism, and Minister of Aviation—Harold Lovell had the authority, the influence, and the resources to transform communities like Sea View Farm, All Saints West, Clarks Hill, Montrula, Renfrews, Law Pasture, and others.
And what did he do?
Nothing.
He could have empowered local leadership.
He could have supported meaningful development.
He could have uplifted the people.
But instead?
When Chandlah Coddington, his own party brother, stood up and pleaded for basic support, for roads, for community investment, Harold Lovell turned his back on him and on the people of All Saints West. Not only was Coddington ignored, he was dismissed as if his cries, and those of the people he represented, meant nothing.
Let’s not forget: this happened while Lovell was Minister of Finance, the position that controls the purse strings of the entire country. He had the power to allocate funds. The power to prioritize. The power to respond.
Yet when one of his own cried out on behalf of a neglected constituency, he chose silence.
Harold Lovell and the UPP hierarchy treated Chandlah Coddington with scorn and not like an elected member. That’s exactly what they wanted to do with me and I was never going to allow that to happen. It’s time for All Saints West to come first.
Let’s be honest:
If Chandlah Coddington a senior figure in the UPP, with unanimous victories at the polls twice, couldn’t even get Harold Lovell’s attention to fix roads in the constituency, what hope did ordinary citizens have?
That’s the true face of Harold Lovell’s leadership:
Not compassion.
Not vision.
Not priority for All Saints West.
But deliberate neglect and political ego,at the expense of communities like Sea View Farm, All Saints, Jonas Road, Lightfoot, Freemans Village, St. Clair Heights, Bellevue Heights, and Bellevue Estate.
Let’s call it what it was:
As Minister of Finance, Harold Lovell choked community initiatives and suffocated local development. All Saints West was left behind on his watch.
But now, conveniently, he shows up parachuting into All Saints West with false smiles and empty promises, pretending he cares.
Where was that care when the people were suffering?
Let me be clear:
This is not about you, Mr. Lovell.
But your arrogance makes you believe everything is.
You failed All Saints West.
You failed Fort Road.
You failed in your leadership of the UPP.
And yes, you failed this nation.
Even today, the people in Fort Road are still crying out, abandoned by you, when you held the most powerful ministries in government.
Is All Saints West you want to mistreat again? And instead of accountability, you want people to believe you’ve changed?
Give me a break.
Let’s not forget: the UPP leadership tried to push me out when I began demanding better for country and constituency, because I didn’t think the leadership was ready to lead this country. Because I chose the people and the country over party politics.
I didn’t back down then.
And I’m not backing down now.
Today, I’ve started to deliver.
I’m advocating.
I’m building roads, forming partnerships, and pushing real development, not because it’s politically convenient, but because this is my home, not just the place I live and grew up. This is personal.
Harold Lovell is not just an outsider in All Saints West, he has been an enemy of progress to the people of All Saints West.
He had his chance.
He had the power.
And he chose to look the other way, even when his own colleague was begging for help.
We all remember Chandlah’s cry and treatment.
Let the record be clear:
I, Anthony Smith Jr., was working for this community long before Harold Lovell ever stepped foot here to run.
Even when I was in opposition, I stayed true to the people, building roads with my own personal resources.
Because that’s what real representation looks like.
The people of All Saints West are not fools.
They remember who stood by them.
That’s Anthony Smith Jr.
They remember who didn’t.
That’s Harold Lovell.
Your time has passed.
Your legacy is broken communities, and abandoned people.
We won’t let you rewrite the past to suit your comeback fantasy.
This is the people’s time now.
All Saints West must be prioritized.

I have no faith in either party. Majority of the roads are still a mess, especially in sea view farm, Renfrew and Herbert’s. Both parties, over the decades, had the opportunity to do the work, and the community was failed.
So my friend, this is just a political letter.
No roads, no water, lack of infrastructure. Relatively speaking, I know you just reach and you’ve sorted some roads in lightfoot and a few areas, but generally, both parties have neglected the community
Whole ton a lip service but nothing fix.
Sixty plus years Labour at the wheel!
They hay been the biggest bluffers to the people of ASW.
poor Barbara Coates. UPP kicked you to the curb and placed this LOSER in your place. don’t worry darling. You will have the last laugh.
