Harold Lovell Confirms Readiness to Contest All Saints West Seat
Former United Progressive Party (UPP) leader Harold Lovell has signalled his readiness to contest the All Saints West constituency, pledging a return to what he described as “leadership that puts people first.”
In a message to supporters, Lovell said he had heard the calls from residents for his candidacy and stood prepared to serve.
“I have lived among you in this community and travelled these roads with you. I know the struggles we face and the dreams we share,” he said, outlining his vision for a constituency and country where opportunities are accessible to all, youth can thrive, and pensioners receive support with dignity.
Lovell, who previously represented St John’s City East, emphasised his commitment to fighting for the people of All Saints West. “If it’s Lovell you want, it’s Lovell you go get — because I am here to serve, to fight, and to win for the people,” he said.
The UPP has yet to formally announce its final slate of candidates for the next general election, constitutionally due in 2028.

During the time Harold Lovel lived in All Saints West- Buckley’s to be exact he never should any interest in anything in that constituency. So it’s pure hypocrisy to say you know anything about All Saints West.
So all of a sudden he will be attending the funerals and playing sympathetic to people he doesn’t care about. Then on to the graduations and sporting events. Hey I am no fan of Anthony Smith either. The UPP did a poor Job of introducing Barbra Coates. Then Dave Lester Payne undermine her and formed delegation , you say and asked you to replace her. Barbra was not groomed properly and could have made a better candidate. May I ask what is the process or processes used by the UPP to choose candidates.
Moving right along. Harold you have recently been trying to upstage Pringle as well. Asking the Hon. Gaston Browne for a debate or accepting debate on social security investing into Jolly Beach.
Now to Anthony Smith- you now need to put your house in order. You can still hold onto this seat but you would have to pay proper attention to the people that are the real power brokers. The people with influence in this constituency. Since you changed parties you seem to lost touch with the electorate. Sea view farm is a small portion of this constituency.
There is no way I see UPP winning political office or coming as close as the last election. They have made a mockery of the progress they made. I will now look on for a few months and see where this is going, in terms of the leadership of the UPP party.
I have said this before and I will repeat the only person in the UPP party that I respect and will fully support as a political leader right now is D.Gisele Isaac. She is educated, articulate, intelligent, love Antigua and Antiguans , grounded , hardworking, accountable, experienced in the political arm of government, understands the civil service. ALP propaganda machinery did a remarkable job in influencing even the members of UPP against her. She is not perfect and Harold and Hon. Spencer should have stepped up to the plate and straighten out things. Harold gladly/ seemingly stood by and watched the UPP implosion to get back where he is today. Probably eying the leadership again. Never lifted a finger in bringing his party together. Except touting and selling himself as the UPP savior at the expense of Barbra Coates embarrassing excuses for being kicked out of running.
Time to breed new blood into Antigua politics. Right now I am suggesting a new political party with new leadership. Young vibrant leadership.
