A man from Black Bush Polder, East Berbice-Corentyne, has passed away from injuries sustained in a recent accident.
Chandra Allie, the deceased, died at Georgetown Public Hospital on Thursday.
According to the Police’s report, the accident involved Allie on his motorcycle, a motor lorry (GZZ 7836) driven by Davendra Singh, and a motor car (PHH 4070) driven by Heeralall Singh.
Singh stated that he was traveling west on Clifton public road when Allie crossed the road from south to north, directly into his path.
This resulted in a collision between the front right side of the lorry and the right side of the motorcycle, which then crashed into the stationary motor car.
Allie suffered severe injuries and was initially taken to Port Mourant Hospital before being transferred to New Amsterdam Hospital.
After undergoing emergency surgery, he was transferred to Georgetown Public Hospital, where he ultimately passed away.
The lorry driver was arrested and subsequently released on station bail after 72 hours. Charges are expected to be filed against him.
