Guyana: Father and daughter killed in vehicular accident

The Guyana Police Force identified the deceased as 37-year old Jason Rudder and his daughter Jamela Rudder as two of the victims in a head-on collision Saturday evening.

The incident took place hours after Jamela received, in the presence of her father Jason, a gift from the Guyana Oil Company, in recognition of her performance at the National Grade Six Assessment Examination that saw her securing a place at President’s College.

In an open letter to the Rudder family, posted on its Facebook page, the Guyana Oil Company said, “the memory of Jason’s beaming smile and the pride he felt for his daughter will forever remain in our hearts.

Please accept our sincerest condolences, and may you find strength and solace in the love and memories you shared with them.”

President’s College expressed sympathy to those who died in the crash. “Purple Nation mourns the passing of one of our little angels, we express our sincere condolences to the family of Jamela and the other persons that were involved in this evening’s tragedy.

May God grant these families strength during this difficult time,” the school said.

The other two persons who died were 33-year-old Kellon Jones, who was the driver of the vehicle that the Rudders were travelling in and 26-year-old Chris Gonsalves the driver of the other vehicle.

Two other people were injured in the accident, and were treated at hospital.
