Carnival celebrations in Antigua are being enhanced by nearly 100 mas’ players from Guadeloupe, bringing French flair to the festivities. They arrived in St John’s yesterday with 450 passengers aboard the Jeans for Freedom ferry.
Greeted by steel pan players and moko jumbie stilt walkers, the visitors plan to stay for Carnival, benefiting from the ferry’s regular service between the two islands.
Tourism Authority CEO Colin James remarked that the boat’s arrival marks “another good day for Antigua and Barbuda.” Charmaine Brown-Spencer highlighted the successful post-Covid collaboration with the Guadeloupe Ferry, aiming for a permanent shared service.

Am a bit disappointed with Joella for not getting out of the heats. The Olympics is where you push for your PB, but Joella wasn’t even close to hers with this 11.37 performance. I’ve seen Ms Lloyd run much faster than this on many occasions. Pryor to the Olympics she mentioned getting to 11 flat, which would’ve been great but this wasn’t even close. In that heat I was looking for her in third or fourth place, with a much better time. Disappointed but we will get them next time around in the LA Olympics, still young.
Let’s see if Cejhae can at least get out his heat. Previously I was hoping we can at least get to the finals and if he push for his PB of 10 flat he will, but let’s keep our fingers crossed. Cejhae been doing this Olympics thing for sometime now so getting out his heat should be easy.
Look out Julien Alfred out of St Lucia in 100m and 200m she will medal in both.
