Loop News – A male suspect has been held in connection with the murder of Josiah ‘Jonty’ Robinson in Grenada.
The suspect is a 29-year-old male who resides in the south of the island.
This person will be charged later today or over the weekend for the death of Jonty. The suspect has been described by police as an acquaintance of Jonty.
The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) announced that it had solved the Jonty Robinson murder case during a media conference on Friday afternoon.
The RGPF says at this point it will not release the name of the individual as the investigation is still ongoing.
ACP Vannie Curwen; Officer with responsibility for Crimes stated: “I do promise you members of the media and the public that sometime over the weekend into next week, we will make a release providing all of the details regarding the identity of the accused person. We have made a significant breakthrough in the murder case of Jonty.”
Jonty Robinson, 24, of Beaulieu, St George was found dead on BBC beach on June 18, 2023. An autopsy report stated he died from manual strangulation.
His death gained regional and international attention, with world-renowned American movie director, entrepreneur and philanthropist Tyler Perry joining together with Grenada-born celebrity publicist Yvette Noel-Schure in offering a $100,000 reward for information that could lead to the conviction of the murderer of Josiah ‘Jonty’ Robinson.
The RGPF was questioned if anyone had come forward with a tip to claim the award that was being offered.
ACP Curwen responded: “I do not know that anyone has come forward. We will wait to see in the coming days whether anybody will but at this point, we do have have any information from anybody coming forward to claim that reward.”
