Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Barbuda Affairs, E.P. Chet Greene, has urged a renewed partnership between the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), founded on justice, sustainability, and shared prosperity.
Speaking at the Caribbean–EU Meeting held on the sidelines of the 4th CELAC–EU Summit in Santa Marta, Colombia, Greene emphasized that the Caribbean–EU relationship has long been based on shared values and mutual benefit. He said it is now time to evolve that partnership to meet the challenges of a changing world.
“Antigua and Barbuda stands at this crossroads of continents not just to participate, but to passionately advocate for a partnership that is both transformative and just,” Greene stated.
Reaffirming Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to multilateralism, Greene described it as vital for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) navigating an era of uncertainty. He commended the EU’s global climate leadership and urged increased investment in renewable energy, concessional financing, and climate-resilient infrastructure across the region.
Highlighting the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, Greene said it presents major opportunities to modernize water systems, reduce energy costs, and promote digital inclusion, preparing Caribbean youth to thrive in the digital economy.
He also joined regional counterparts in calling for the EU’s continued cooperation on maintaining the Caribbean as a “Zone of Peace” and addressing the crisis in Haiti. Additionally, he appealed for ongoing EU engagement on the region’s Investment Migration programmes, calling them vital to many Caribbean economies.

Green always call for stronger everything, but never does nothing! Useless man!
Minister Greene is right, partnerships must evolve with the times. We need fair access to financing, not just promises.
The EU’s Global Gateway could be a real game changer if implemented properly, digital access and renewable energy are key.
I’m all for low cost energy and water security
Represent well Mr. Greene, I see you as the next PM you know how to conduct yourself on the International stage. St. Paul is with you all the way. Do not be like the other Matchstick Men in the Party. Mek you move now. Time waits on no one
@born & bred.
Winning back your seat and becoming the PM are two different things. I actually like this guy, but we cannot, and I say cannot allow this corrupt administration to lead Antigua again. Too much money has been lost, stolen and down right misused by this sticky finger Administration.
The only people who are asking for this administration to continue it’s looting of the peoples purse, are those who are directly benefiting from the corruption.
Are you benefiting from said corruption @born?
90% of the people in Antigua are barely hanging on, not seeing any upward movement in their day to day life..so why would any right thinking person wants to continue with this current administration, especially when we know that billions upon billions have been raked into the Treasury over the past 12 years.
Where are all those billions @born?
I think in the coffers of corrupt politicians and many civil servants who are living large off of a supposedly meager salary.
How is that possible? How is it possible for a little customs officer or a simple police officer own a million dollar house?
The math is simple…they are stealing and looting the peoples tax money. Look at the latest news about the car theft (and yes it’s bloody theft) and that’s just one such story..more yet to come out.
If Greene wants to be the PM, he better do what Asot wanted to do before he was murdered with all his secrets dying with him, and spill the beans on all the racketeering that’s happening right under his nose.
Other than that, all of them who turns a blind eye, should go off into retirement and please give the Antiguan people a damn break once and for all.
We the people are, tired, tired, tired!!!
