A 22-year-old Greenbay resident is in police custody following the recovery of a stolen van that crashed during an attempted traffic stop on Bendals Road.
Police say the incident unfolded when officers on mobile patrol spotted a Toyota van that had been reported stolen on 13 September from Potters. The vehicle was travelling along Bendals Road when law enforcement attempted to intercept it.
According to reports, the driver abandoned the van while it was still moving. The unmanned vehicle then collided with a parked car on the northern side of the road, damaging both vehicles.
The suspect fled on foot but was pursued and later detained by officers.

Investigations are ongoing.
