A community leader in Grays Farm and Greenbay has sounded the alarm over the growing recruitment of minors into criminal activity.

Caretaker Michael Joseph says adult men are exploiting vulnerable children and teenagers, luring them into theft, robbery and even murder.

“This is a pattern we’ve started to observe,” he said. “Grown men are taking advantage of vulnerable minors, drawing them into a world of crime.”

Joseph’s warning comes amid a rise in violent incidents in the area in recent months. He is calling for parents, teachers and local leaders to provide young people with stronger support and alternatives to street life.

Residents have also urged police to clamp down on those who recruit minors and to expand outreach efforts to protect at-risk youth.

“This is about safeguarding our future,” Joseph said. “The community must come together to stop the cycle.”

  1. Who are these adults doing the recruiting? If you know something, say something. These people can be named anonymously but you must have proof to back up your claims.
If there are adults who are putting our children at risk then we cannot be afraid to confront, arrest and convict them. Again, providing proof is there. I am not saying that what this story is portraying is not true, but we have to start getting strategic and finding ways to not just point a finger but grab a hold on these pedophiles. That is what they are, pedophiles, adults procuring youth for illegal activities.

  2. How do you know that buffoon?.
If you do know that to be a fact what have you done about it?
Why are you only now speaking after this has claimed the life of a productive youth?
While Rochard Lewis has been integrally involved in the lives of the youths you have been MIA.
Today, in your bid to gain favor in the eyes of residents of the community you make such a ludicrous statement.
Why have you not had a one on one with Richard Lewis and strengthen his plans and programs to save the life of the youths?
    You actions speaks volumes.
There is a community center in the heart of the community.
Rather than ensuring that the youth find meaningful ways to occupy themselves you have gone ahead and transfer ownership and management of the community center thereby depriving the youths of positive social interaction with each other.
My Brother, it is better you hadn’t said anything.
The community has lived without you, your advise and your counsel.
Richard Lewis has been a solid advocate for better life in the constituency.
    Stay in your lane.

  3. A long over-due initiative. Baldwin did absolutely nothing to raise ambitions especially among the youth of this troubled community. The present MPseens totally impotent when it comes to introducing programs to raise standards down there. He just sits there with his mousy face stuffed with cheese sniffing around for a hole leading to leadership of his useless , pitiful ,party.
Mr. Joseph, thanks for stepping up to try to make a difference. The community is fast descending into a typical Jamaican crime-infested gully, confirtable to some but alarming to others who only desire a clean, healthy, crime-frèe, progressive community in which to raise the next generation of Grays/Green residents.

  4. Some of the parents are the cause also ……alot of them want to be “young nd free so bad ” nd sometime u go nd make a report they reply ” me cya badda” nd then u turn they say oh tf she a come to me for !!!! Its sick and a shame not onlii in grays green but also in Cashew hill these kids are raising themselves

  5. Mr/ Ms. Editor,

    Can We NOT SEE???

THIS Is PARTLY the Result of An Uncaring Government Administration HUFFING The COMMUNITY CENTER BUILT FOR THE NEEDS OF THE YOUTH THIS AREA !!!

Can we put the FACTS On the Table?

The Youth of GRAYS-GREEN have NEVER seen the INSDE OF THIS BUILDING Specifically built for THEIR Development!!!

….. An UNCARING ADMINISTRATION saw it fit to Use what was GIFTED TO THE YOUTH OF THIS AREA as A COURT HOUSE FOR YEARS!!!!

It has not even been FIXED to date ….The MESS that THE BUILDING has been left in when the Magistrate’s Court Moved Back to its former Address Still EXISTS……

Mr. Junior Minister you can THANK YOUR SENIORS IN The Government Administration for THIS DEBACLE which NOW faces the Grays-Green Community!!!!

Try to CORRECT THIS ERROR AS QUICKLY as Possible …. The Damaged caused will take 3 to 5 years, if not Longer to CORRECT …… YOU have NO FEELINGS for OUR YOUTH …. Actions Speak LOUDER Than Words, Sir ……

  6. “Growing recruitment of minors into criminal activity.” Unfortunately, this is nothing new in Antigua or anywhere else. And in other news, water is wet…

“This is a pattern we’ve started to observe”. This comment speaks volumes about the community leader because how can you call yourself that in a place like gossipy Grays Farm/Green Bay when it has been occurring for years?

  7. Faithful National #1 has once again left no doubt in the minds of sensible people what a jackass he is he is just blinded by pure politics with the diatribe he posted, how can anyone take what you post serious anymore. What you said about Baldwin Spencer and Richard Lewis is total nonsense, even some sensible Gastonites know your contribution is shit

  8. I think the senator watching way too much television. Mr Joseph by making that statement I want to believe you know who these adult males are, so why not report it to the authorities.
All this youth out of order thing got out of hand when we start adopting the American way of telling parents they can’t beat their kids, then the weed smoking start spreading and we look the other way. Some of these same parents are now scared of their own kids who reside in the same house with them, so they will see and prefer to keep their mouth shut.
The court system also makes it easy for these youths to do what they’re doing, with these lite sentences and no real juvenile center to hold them till they can be tried as an adult, but as I said this is life in the Ghetto worldwide.

  9. He does not think anything good should come to Grays Farm where poor people live. Baldwin Spencer beg for a secondary school, he and the Dawg declare it too nice for the picky head children there and turn it into what he call a You-We.

Baldwin beg for a community center for the poor people living in Grays Farm and he tief it and make it into a Court. When they finally pass it back nasty and messy now this joker bway and his joker friend Turner talking about turning it into something else.
And you Michael say you for us? And now you running your mouth about adults making young people criminals and you take away their recreation center>?
The next time you come in front of my door asking for vote I have two gallons of stale yellow fluid just waiting and waiting for you.

  10. Here comes this “Cracker Jacker” politician again.. 😂.

These people just talk talk and don’t have a clue. Is everyone in this administration cut from the same clothe? All the donuts run their mouth and take the peoples money to do nonsense.

  11. Well said Micheal. They say recognizing the problem is a step in helping to find the solution. I can’t help but remember the former rep (BS) for that area pointing out that he had a gang in his community that he would utilize in fighting the now PM of Antigua. I won’t even go too deep in his statements that persons should use violence against the tax collection agents. One would think since leadership matters he would want to set a proper example. Anyway its good that he has changed course in his recognition of the positives that government has brought to that community via UWI. I suspect the same UWI can be utilized to help us find a solution to the problem Micheal has identified (have them conduct a study, aimed at also offering solutions). Glad to see people like Micheal stepping forward and looking for solutions and not being like past reps making excuses.
