A Gray’s Farm man has been jailed after being found with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Akeem Brookes, 27, admitted to the charges and was sentenced by Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel. He will serve a total of four years and three months for possession of the illegal firearm, plus an additional year for the ammunition.
Brookes was stopped by police on March 30 near Hoppers playing field during a routine patrol. A search uncovered a concealed .32 Walther pistol, loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.

Four years and three months seems like a decent sentence for possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.
I thought he would get less than that.. LOL
JUSTICE FOR CHANTEL
Where are these firearms coming from?
Akeem yuh f*cka you! All of you waste men needed off our streets, yuh think badness play!
The sentence should have been longer. Our young men (especially) need to find something productive to do with their time. The sources of the importation of firearms and ammunition and drugs are well known but, nothing is being done. Only our young, non-skull, foolish men are being jailed and the big wigs are free to do whatever.
Why a deal can’t be struck to know who providing the guns? The police tip toeing around the syrians and former bird minister who tranship guns through Antigua with lots of it in the public.
